Not every kitchen pleases its owners with a large area. And if every millimeter of space counts, it is very important to choose and place home appliances correctly. Kitchen assistants should not only satisfy the wishes and needs of their owner, but also take up as little space as possible.

A sandwich roaster is exactly what will make moving in a small kitchen as convenient and efficient as possible.

Peculiarities

The appearance of the unit for the production of hot treats is practically no different from a microwave oven. The same rectangular shape and transparent glass door. But if you look inside, you can find a similarity already with another household device - a toaster, which has a grill where an uncooked dish is placed.

However, in terms of technical performance, the roaster is still different from the toaster and is more similar to the oven. It has several heating elements - heating elements, but microwaves (like a microwave) are absent. Some manufacturers call this a small oven, a 2-in-1 appliance, or a toaster oven. Still, the roster is a self-sufficient mechanism.

Differences between different models

The device for roasting bread is not as simple as it might seem at first glance. Different firms specializing in the production of household appliances produce different models of roasters with different functions.

The main differences between the models are in the following characteristics.

  • Functionality. For example, there are options on sale with a grill mechanism, with fans, etc.
  • Volume. Roasters are available from 5 to 20 liters.
  • Power. For a small family, a medium power 10 liter appliance is ideal. If the number of family members is more than three people, it is worth considering a device with more power and more volume.

Multifunctional two-in-one models can replace a full-fledged oven or microwave oven: in them you can heat food, bake delicious bakery products, and pamper yourself and loved ones with a dish of meat or seafood.

How to choose?

The choice and purchase of any household appliances requires special attention and preparation. You need to study all the information about the desired device and decide what parameters and functions you want to see in your kitchen. That is, when looking for the perfect roster, it is important to take into account such points.

    The amount of energy consumed

    The number of functions that can be performed with the unit depends on this criterion. If you need it exclusively for heating food and baking sandwiches, then a device with a power of 650-800 watts is enough.

      If you want the roaster to have grill or convection functions (which is necessary for baking), you will have to choose between models with a power of 2500 watts or more.

      But in this case, you should find out in advance whether the power grid can withstand such a heavy load.

      Volume

      Electrical appliances for 5-6 liters are considered the smallest. Such models are used for toasting bread, as well as heating modest portions of food. Units with a volume of 35 liters are considered the largest, but it should be understood that you can forget about saving space in the kitchen - the dimensions of such mechanisms are too large.

      Internal wall coating

      There are several options for the interior coating of the chambers. These are metal (stainless steel) and bioceramics. Both options are fairly straightforward to clean up.Nevertheless, ceramics retain their impeccable appearance longer, and stains and scratches quickly appear on stainless steel. The price of bioceramics is certainly much higher.

      Timer

      In simple models produced for heating sandwiches, a timer is built in for a maximum of 15-20 minutes. In appliances with more complex functions, the cooking time can be up to 120 minutes.

      From a security point of view, you need to choose roasters with a timer, which provides a self-switching off function and a sound signal. Otherwise, with just a few minutes of distraction, you can end up with burnt nuggets instead of golden toast.

      Additional functions

      Some roasters have a defrost function, open grill. Others use convection (ideal for those who love homemade baked goods). Such machines are called 2 in 1.

      The Booster function, thanks to the rapid (almost instant) heating of the heating elements, allows you to heat up or fry small pieces of food in a matter of minutes, but the end result of cooking deteriorates slightly - an overly crispy crust may appear.

      Electricity consumption also increases significantly.

      Completion and design characteristics.

      The roaster may or may not have a pan for collecting fat and breadcrumbs. In some models, there is an additional baking sheet, a grill spit, a dish for lasagne and bread baking, a pizza plate.

      Such additional devices make working with the roster more convenient, since they expand its capabilities, but on the other hand, you need to think before buying whether these attributes are needed, because their presence affects the pricing of devices, making the latter more expensive. Moreover, to store some additional items, you will need to allocate a special place.

      To reduce the cost of purchase, you can purchase all the necessary accessories later.

      Price

      The financial side of the issue directly depends on the power of the roster, its volume, functions and brand. Simple small-sized models from manufacturers such as Scarlett, Vitek, $ 40-60. Their capabilities are very limited, the package bundle does not differ in a wide variety of additional accessories, and the design does not cause much delight. But it is these manufacturers who willingly delight customers with rosters of various colors and shades.

      It is better to turn to renowned companies for an extended complete set and a spectacular design. Naturally, for all this you will have to pay a considerable amount, as a rule, $ 100 or more.

      Guarantee

      The heating elements of roasters are not always of high quality, therefore they can quickly fail. Usually the warranty card is one year, but some manufacturers give a warranty for their products up to two years.

      Above are the main points to consider when purchasing a roster. But you need to pay attention to the auxiliary characteristics of the device, which provide a more comfortable use of it:

      • self-cleaning program;
      • auto shutdown;
      • protection from children;
      • cold door (double glazed to prevent human injury);
      • additional accessories (baking dishes, spit, baking sheet, wire racks).
