Types and models

With today's wealth of choice and variety of models, making the right decision is a big problem. Modern technologies for the manufacture of furniture make it possible to produce models designed for specific tasks and designed for a specific interior.

When choosing a sofa, first of all, you need to decide on the dimensions of the product. The size of the furniture will directly depend on the area of your kitchen, and the design will depend on the functions that you assign to it.

In the current environment, all sofa designs can be made in any size. It's just that all models will have their own running dimensions, in which they have more advantages over other designs. It remains only to decide on the design and then choose the size of the model that will ideally fit into your interior.

By type, kitchen sofas are divided into folding and modular. Modular furniture is often used for small kitchens. This is understandable, because such a design allows you to ensure comfort when eating and talking.

But it is more practical to use folding models: they not only decorate the interior of the kitchen, but also act as a sleeping place, making it more functional.

Modular

Modular sofas can be straight and angular by the type of production. Straight models are usually made of small and medium sizes with a length of 120 cm to 170 cm, a depth of 50 cm to 80 cm.This model with a berth is used if there is a free wall of suitable dimensions in the kitchen.

For rooms with shorter walls (usually square rooms), use the corner construction of a monolithic sofa.

It allows you to equip a free corner and does not take up much space - ideal for small spaces. It is made in the same way as the straight model, with a length from 120 cm to 170 cm, a depth from 50 cm to 80 cm, the length of the attached part is usually from 60 cm to 100 cm.

Folding

Folding kitchen sofas, like modular ones, can be straight and angular. When choosing an angular model, you need to pay attention to the characteristic features:

  • corner models are made without armrests, which reduces their comfort in a sitting position and, conversely, makes them more convenient when disassembled (in a lying position);
  • the size of the bed can be different: from small children 90x150 cm to adults 160x200 cm, which can easily replace a large bed;
  • when choosing a model, it is worth considering not only the dimensions of the room, but also the height of the people who will sleep on it.

Straight-type folding kitchen sofas are the most popular and popular. Simplicity of design and ease of use make them indispensable helpers in arranging comfort in the kitchen. For the correct choice of the direct model, it is necessary to take into account that:

  • the optimal length of this model is from 140 cm to 200 cm;
  • width varies from 70 cm to 90 cm;
  • for the best comfort, select a sofa depth of 80 cm.

Transformation mechanisms

All collapsible models are subdivided according to the type of transformation mechanism used. The dimensions of the kitchen sofa also depend on this. Such mechanisms are widely used as:

  • Dolphin - a pull-out seat is used in the form of a built-in inner drawer;
  • book - the simplest mechanism, easily unfolds and provides a large berth;
  • eurobook - combines the mechanisms of a dolphin and a book, which allows you to use the disassembled back of the sofa in the vacant seat;
  • click-gag - is an original mechanism and allows you to unfold furniture in the "reclining" position;
  • accordion - the transformation takes place by analogy with the musical instrument of the same name, the seat of the sofa has several sections and unfolds forward;
  • conrad - the seat has three sections, during transformation it is necessary to pull the lower part, so that they gradually move forward, each on its own support;
  • puma - the seat of the sofa moves forward, the second section takes its place from the inner drawer.

How to choose?

When choosing models with an accordion, conrad, dolphin transformation mechanism, it must be borne in mind that a berth is obtained by folding the furniture forward. Because of this, sofas with such mechanisms are made in lengths from 150 cm to 200 cm. Installation of such a model is possible near a short wall, but when unfolding, sufficient space is required in front of the sofa.

If you use a model with a transformation mechanism, a book, eurobook, click-gag, then your sleeping place is formed almost at the place of furniture installation or with a slight forward shift. The length of such models ranges from 180 cm to 220 cm.

To use such sofas, a free long wall is required, so they are installed only in large kitchens.

When choosing a kitchen sofa, you need to know how many people will use it:

  • if there is one person, then a model with a length of 130 or 140 cm will be enough;
  • if the sofa will be used by a married couple, then a length of 150 or 170 cm will do;
  • if the sofa is intended for a family of three, then the length can be up to 190 or 200 cm.

        Let's summarize. In order to choose the right size for your kitchen sofa, you need to consider:

        • the dimensions of the room where it is planned to place the furniture;
        • the purpose of the sofa itself, in order to choose the right transformation mechanism;
        • the exact number of users and their sizes.
