Sooner or later, when carrying out finishing work, the question arises of painting the walls and ceiling. Agree that whitewashing the ceiling with a roller or a paint brush is very long and inconvenient. Modern technology has stepped forward a long time ago, and paint guns or spray guns are now used to facilitate the work.

Hardware stores offer a diverse range of products in this category, everyone can find a device on request and a wallet.

Purpose and advantages of use

The spray gun is used in work to apply on the prepared working surfaces the necessary paints and varnishes, lime solutions, various stains, priming solutions, or simply, if necessary, moisten them with clean water. Using a spray gun, you can paint large surfaces with an even layer of solution, while the paint will lay down very smoothly and evenly.

On top of that, provided that you have the right spray gun to match your requirements it is possible to apply toners and nitro varnishes to objects.

The solutions and colorants used in the work are sprayed with a wide air stream, which guarantees a beautiful finished look after drying. Comparing the doors, one of which is painted with a brush, and the other with a spray gun, the difference will be striking and the choice will be behind the spray gun.

Such an indispensable thing in the household, among other conveniences, is equipped with an adjustment of the fluid supply, and some tools have special nozzles in the set, with which you can change the thickness of the paint flow... This can be useful when painting small items or hard to reach areas.

There are also advantages of a spray gun over a paint brush.

When starting whitewashing, it is important to know that the lime solution is very caustic and fluid, and if it comes into contact with the skin, it can cause a burn, which is extremely unpleasant and dangerous.

Being liquid, it is quite difficult to apply such a solution evenly, without decorating the wall with unnecessary stains and smudges.

Using a spray gun, you will be able to apply the lime solution evenly, painting over even the most difficult surface areas. You don't need stepladders to reach and paint over the ceiling and the corners between the ceiling and walls - special fishing rods attached to the tool will help you cover the ceiling with lime mortar while standing on the floor... In addition, using this tool, you can save your time, because with with a spray gun it is possible to cover large areas quickly enoughwhile applying grout smoothly and minimizing splash contamination.

Even if this is the first time you pick up a spray gun, you will still get a good result.

Types: how to choose?

Each spray gun on the market for construction tools differs from others in its characteristics. This can be a complexity in the design of the mechanism itself, a method of supplying a dye, and ease of use is also important. The price of this segment of equipment differs depending on the brand of the tool, its category and power.

To purchase the equipment you need without making a mistake, first you need to understand the types of these devices. Spray guns are manual, pneumatic and electric.

Manual

Probably the most popular segment of all spray guns is the hand held spray gun.Due to the low price and good paint quality, most consumers choose this type of device, except that the physical costs are higher.

Its performance and coloring properties are suitable for whitening the ceiling yourself or painting the desired surface quickly and accurately. By its design, the tool is quite simple and reliable, and with careful use, it will serve you for a long time.

If you disassemble the device of a hand-held spray gun, for example, an electric CO 61, then it consists of a plastic or metal reservoir for a liquid, into which pressure is manually pumped up. Two hoses extend from the reservoir: one of which takes the solution from the container, and the other sprays it using a special device at the end. The mechanism is triggered by a lever on the second hose, and paint is sprayed onto the surface under pressure.

The simplicity of the device of this unit is what you need for home use.

Electrical

The next hand spray gun, considering the affordable price and practicality in use, is the electric spray gun. In the case when it is impractical to buy and use pneumatic spray guns, and you have already outgrown a simple manual one, then your choice may be made in favor of an electric - less expensive, but more complex device.

In terms of its productivity and quality of work, this type of painting tool is on a par with its pneumatic counterpart, but the price is at a more acceptable level.

The operation of an electric spray gun is based on the airless principle - the force of the pressure of the ink jet is injected using a special electric motor.

The paint is shattered into small particles due to the special design of the nozzle and the pressure of the pistons.

Pneumatic

Pneumatic equipment is the choice of professionals when a large amount of work is required. The principle of operation is the use of compressed air, when the regular pressure of the paint jet is maintained by the operation of the compressor.

The paint is supplied from a special tank and, with the help of a powerful jet of air, which is pumped under high and uniform pressure, falls on the surface to be treated with high quality and uniformity. Thanks to the high pressure, the whitewashed ceiling looks almost flawless.

The cost of such devices is quite high, but they definitely have a fairly high performance and a higher quality level of final work. And using such a technique is much more pleasant.

If the instructions are followed, the surface finished with a pneumatic spray gun will have the most even processing without stains and streaks.

How to work?

Before performing painting work, you will definitely need to prepare the surface, yourself, the surrounding space and the tool.

The surface in need of painting must be leveled, primed, sanded if necessary and cleaned of dirt and grease. AND it should be remembered that each subsequent layer of paint is applied only when the previous one has dried, otherwise you can create unnecessary streaks and smudges on the surface.

Considering the great protection against possible lime burns when working with the solution, the paint stream sprays the smallest dust around it. These fine particles can get onto exposed skin and mucous membranes, thereby causing irritation. It is also possible to contaminate nearby furniture, floors and interior items. That's why take care of your safety before work by wearing gloves, a respirator mask and completely covering your skin with clothes.

The floor should be covered with a special construction film, furniture and things, if possible, should be removed from the working area or also covered with a protective film layer.

Among other things, you should check the functionality of the spray gun and, if necessary, adjust everything. Also make sure that it is clean and that its internal parts are not contaminated with dried paint residues.

When preparing the coloring composition, it should be thoroughly filtered to remove lumps and large particles of solution in order to avoid clogging of the spray nozzles and disruption of its operation. This can be done with gauze or a special strainer.

It is also important to adjust the size of the nozzle for a more even application of the paint solution.

Having finished with the preparation, you can get to work.

After filling the spray bottle with paint solution, check the spraying on an unnecessary surface - this could be old board, pieces of plastic or cardboard. The check is done in order to exclude the creation of an air lock in the nozzle.that can give out ugly spits of paint.

It can also help determine how far from the surface to be painted to hold the tool for best results.

During operation, monitor the pressure and maintain the required level to prevent overcoating.

The spray gun should be held at right angles to the surface to be painted., apply the solution evenly and smoothly, without lingering in one place, spraying the paint with overlapping movements, layer by layer.

If you take a break during the painting process, especially when applying quick-drying coloring compositions, it is best to place the end of the spray gun in a container with water or solvent (depending on the type of paint used), which will prevent the solution remaining in the nozzle from drying out.

Upon completion of the work, the spray gun should be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned for its further storage and subsequent use.

Care

The most important and basic rule for the care of spray guns is their obligatory washing and cleaning after each use. All types of spray guns have their own structural features, there is no universal solution here. Besides that cleaning is a must... Thanks to this, the mechanical tree tool will serve you for many hours of construction work.

After all surfaces have been painted, whitewashed and left to dry, the remaining paint should be drained from a special tank. The pump with hoses and nozzles should be thoroughly flushed... In some cases, following the instructions, special cords can be used to clear clogged tubes or hoses to remove thickened paint.

If this is neglected, paint residues can dry out in the spray channels, and then it will be very difficult to wash out the particles of dried material. Also, with further use in work, this dried paint can peel off and get on the surface to be painted, thereby complicating the work.

After cleaning, you can run ordinary water through the spray gun, thereby checking the quality of the spray.

After that, you can simply blow it with air, dry it thoroughly, if there are parts that require lubrication with special compounds, then they must be lubricated... After all, the instrument is assembled and sent to storage.

Spray gun hoses should be stored rolled up in rings. Hanging them is highly discouraged. in order to avoid the appearance of cracks in places of folds.

The device can be checked approximately every six months more thoroughly. Inspect it visually for breakdowns or malfunctions. Check and, if necessary, replace gaskets and valves. Observe its functioning and operation.

With the correct selection of the device you need, its competent setup and operation, timely cleaning and proper storage, such a wonderful thing as a spray gun will serve you for a long time and will delight you with excellent work results.
