Tools are an integral part of any production. They are designed for both amateur and professional work. Klupps are an irreplaceable thing in construction. They are suitable for creating high-quality water supply or sewerage systems.

Types and equipment

The main task of this device is threading. Klupps are suitable for working with new pipes, as well as for repairing old ones. Do not need any preparation before use.

Some people compare klupps with dies, since they have the same principle of operation. But there are still significant differences between them.

The peculiarity of pipe plugs is that the initial incisors do not have such a strong depression as the others. This position allows you to soften and prepare the first cuts a little, and this is necessary for the correct setting and position of the thread, so that it does not go at random. Subsequent incisors will gradually deepen the projections.

The main task of the tool is to facilitate hard work and to perform it well.

On the market there are both individual die blocks and complete sets for threading pipes.

The instrument will be divided into two categories.

  • Stationary. They belong to a full-fledged machine, they have a fairly high power. The diameters of the thread and the pipe itself can vary from the smallest to the largest. This is achieved using special attachments.
  • Threading portable kits. They do not differ in large dimensions. They are lightweight and not tied to a specific place. They are stored in a special plastic case with various attachments and washers. In such sets, the run-up of the thread is not as large as that of the stationary ones. Have a small 2-inch pitch. Most often used by plumbers and at home.

Further, pipe couplings are subdivided according to the type of thread, which is important to choose the right one, because each of them is suitable for a certain type of work. Thread mark is divided into inch and metric.

  • Inch. This notch has an angle of 55 degrees. Typically, these models can be found on pipes or bolts that are intended for the European and American markets.
  • Metric. The notch angle is 60 degrees. Measuring step is calculated in millimeters.

Many manufacturers do not divide klupps into any specific types, because, in fact, they perform the same function.

Only the material of manufacture, the number of nozzles and the thread pitch are changed.

There are two types of klups available on the market now.

  • Manual type. The most familiar and familiar tool for any plumber. Such klupp can be found in any store and at a very affordable price. Very compact and designed for minor jobs. It can thread a pipe, nut or bolt, and it can also be used in repair work to replace notches, lengthen them, or correct mistakes. The main disadvantage, which is most often noted by experts, is that it is necessary to have strength in order to hold the handle correctly and tighten the nozzle. Popular thread models are 1/2 and 3/4 inches. Large diameter pipes require skill and strength. The sets contain special attachments with a simple holder. And there are also kits when the latter is equipped with a ratchet or adapter. If the cutter is worn out, it can be replaced with a new one. You just need to unscrew one bolt and change the cutting part.If the kit does not have a handle or holder, then you can use either a wrench or a crocodile wrench.
  • Eclectic type. Refers to professional tools and is used in industrial construction. The power ranges from 700 to 1700/2000 W. Therefore, it is not considered advisable to buy this unit for home use or one-time use. The set includes a set of 6 or more heads, the diameter of which varies from 15 to 50 mm. The same kits can be found in inches too. The main advantage of the technique is that you do not need to use force to twist. The operation is very simplified and fast, so the time spent on work is saved. Suitable for operations in hard-to-reach places or where the pipe is located close to the wall. Cons: Cannot be used outdoors and in bad weather. The tool is completely useless without electricity.

Nuances of choice

Since there is a large selection of different klup kits on the market, a number of criteria must be observed in order to purchase a good product.

  • Before buying, you need to familiarize yourself with the complete set, as well as the front of possible work, especially if the tool is chosen for home use. A large number of attachments will not guarantee quality, and some of them may never be used.
  • Power, if an electric die is selected. This unit is suitable for industrial work.
  • Dimensions and weight. If the tool is heavy, this does not mean that it will be better for threading. This only testifies to the quality of the metal. So before buying, you need to twist the tool in order to understand how it lies in your hand and whether it will be convenient to use it during operation.
  • Thread direction. There are two directions: right and left. Most often, all kits are right-handed.
  • Build quality. This is also worth paying attention to when buying, so that when the chipping is applied, the tool does not bend under pressure.
