Demolition hammers are one of the most reliable construction tools. They are designed for significant loads. However, like any other tool, they need periodic maintenance and sometimes repairs.

Peculiarities

It is customary to distinguish two stages of repairing such equipment. During fault detection (it is also a fault finding), they find out what exactly went out of order, as well as how large the resource of the device is. At the second stage, the problematic parts are changed. Experts believe that there is no point in repairing a very worn-out device. It still will not work as long as it takes to compensate for the effort and cost of spare parts.

In order to repair the jackhammer as rarely as possible, it is necessary to systematically check its condition. Maintenance of products is carried out without special equipment, and it saves a lot of time. As for spare parts, only a limited range of them can be found on the market. It is simply pointless to change many parts, since it is more profitable to purchase a new tool. You can purchase:

  • air distribution mechanism;
  • firing pin;
  • valve;
  • spring;
  • some other details (but much less often).

A number of faults can be eliminated only by contacting a specialized service. At the same time, it must be said that most of the repair kits can be used for various models and even for products of different companies. Power does not really matter either. Important: The cheapest jackhammers made in Asian countries are rarely repairable. Usually they are refused even in the service.

How to repair Makita products

Makita bumpers are most often damaged by pinching the lance. There are only two reasons: wear of the locking element or deformation of the part itself. You can fix the problem with your own hands like this:

  1. remove the upper protective cover;
  2. take out the stopper ring;
  3. clean all surfaces and parts;
  4. take out the oil seal;
  5. inspect the locking element;
  6. if necessary, change it to a spare.

If everything is in order with the locking element, check the splines of the barrel. If they have lost their square shape, they change the entire trunk. It is useful to be able to deal with the blockage of the hose. There is nothing difficult in this: all the work comes down to finding a deformed place and cutting it out. But if the hose is shortened to inconvenient limits, it will need to be replaced.

Owners of Makita air hammers often complain of very frequent blows, each of which is very weak. This problem appears due to too much clearance separating the air receiver from its distributor. As a result, part of the air stream goes to the side. Therefore, the impulse is transmitted only partially. The repair is carried out as follows:

  1. dismantle the muffler;
  2. take out the stopper ring;
  3. take out the retainer;
  4. twist the link until it reaches the "dead" position;
  5. collect everything in reverse order.

If defects arise in the part connecting the valve box to the end of the barrel, the problem is solved even easier - by simple cleaning.

Now let's look at the repair of electrical fenders. The most important component of this repair is the replacement of the lubricating oil in the event of a leak or depletion of a resource. The work is carried out as follows:

  1. check if the instrument is connected to the network;
  2. remove the crank mechanism;
  3. remove the remnants of the grease;
  4. put a new portion (300 grams exactly).

Important: Do not change the lubricating oil if it leaks.In such cases, it is imperative to contact a professional repair center. Even if the functionality seems to be restored, the safety of using the tool cannot be guaranteed.

This moment is typical not only for Makita products, but also for products from other manufacturers. Troubleshooting the bulk of problems, as you can easily understand, is no more difficult than with any other technically uncomplicated tool.

What else do you need to know

You can repair your jackhammers less often if you follow these instructions:

  • use only tested and certified tips;
  • give the tool a break when working - each model has its own time of continuous work;
  • use the device strictly for its intended purpose;
  • avoid dusting the inside;
  • connect electrical fenders only to power sources that do not give voltage surges.

Whatever drives are put on hammers, with any modern technologies for their production, the concept always remains the same. It should also be taken into account when repairing yourself. The main parts of the bumper are:

  • drive unit;
  • housing (inside which the drive is located);
  • firing pin;
  • working element (most often a peak);
  • handle;
  • cartridge for attachment of the nozzle.

On electric jackhammers, electric motor brushes are very often worn out. The fact is that they are initially a consumable. After disconnecting the device from the mains or removing the battery, remove the end cover. Then remove the brushes and assess the degree of wear. Usually, when a part is partially destroyed, a fuse comes out, but in some models this function is not provided. After replacing the brushes, the instrument is reassembled.

Air hammers have another inherent problem - filling the channels with dirt. This problem is eliminated by disassembling the unit. Then all parts of the bump stop are thoroughly washed in kerosene. In many cases, ice blocks the air passages. The fact is that during the release of compressed air, the temperature drops significantly

Disassembling the hammer

It is also necessary to know how the complete disassembly of the pneumatic fender is carried out. First of all, unscrew the retainer spring and take out the lance. Next, remove the retaining ring on the muffler. While it is standing, the muffler itself cannot be removed. A special tool is often used to remove the ring.

The next step is to remove the ring on the top of the bumper. It is also removed using a special device. Then remove the intermediate link retainer and the link itself. At this stage, you can easily screw the top of the jackhammer with your hands. After that, the disassembly of the unit is completed by the following actions:

  1. remove the annular valve;
  2. take out the drummer, which is in the "glass";
  3. remove the cartridge;
  4. a pike is extracted from it.

The tool is disassembled, you can clean it, evaluate the performance of all parts, replace something and reassemble in the reverse order.
