Making nails is a lucrative business idea, but it will only work if the quality of the fastening material is flawless. Therefore, the user will need specialized equipment for production - a machine. At first, one may be enough, and in the future, you can easily expand the enterprise to an average size, depending on the level of demand.

Peculiarities

Different nail making machines have a number of features depending on the design and principles of its work... The mini machine used to make nails in home workshops is almost fully automatic. In such a machine, the wire is attached using an automatic holder and gradually unwinds on its own, which guarantees the speed and quality of the products. If a drum kit is provided in the design, then it strikes instantly, forming a nail head. Other hammer nailing machines actively use the shaft.

The hammer plays a decisive role in knurling, making the heads of the nails and shaping the products in the end. The only drawback, in addition to the high cost of factory models, is the high noise level during operation. If we talk about press machines for screws and nails, then they also quickly fail. After all, it is the mechanical parts that play a decisive role in the design.

The correction of this drawback was carried out in rotary machines, where pressure plays a role instead of impact, and since there are no more shortcomings of the impact mechanism, then the efficiency of work increases significantly.

Species overview

In general, any machine or mini-machine can be one of two possible varieties:

  • press machine;
  • rotary unit.

The first belongs to the percussion type devices and is not suitable for mass production. Such machines are quite noisy during operation, they often break important mechanical parts, they need to be periodically lubricated with oil in order for them to remain operational.

Rotary units are equipped with high-precision numerical control, they have higher performance and they are much quieter. Depending on the model, the machine can be a powerful machine designed for production in large batches, or a device designed specifically for small production of parts - in the process of work, already at the initial stages, the main parameters are fixed.

Such machines differ among themselves in several main characteristics.

  • Power... This parameter for factory models can reach 20 kW. But it is worth remembering that more powerful models will require much more productive resources from the workshop.
  • The production speed is also different for everyone. On average, a factory machine at a professional level can produce about 500 or 1000 nails per minute, it all depends on the model and the declared parameters.
  • Finished product length can also be different, and this is one of the parameters by which the machine is selected for the workshop.
  • Depending on the density and diameter of the wireused in production, the width of the products also changes.
  • Some machines can produce different types of nails.... The versatility of the model is one of the important criteria for some factories.
  • Machine weight is also importantif it is chosen for a home workshop. A unit weighing up to a ton is suitable for a regular floor.Anything more in weight will require special operating conditions, otherwise the floor will simply collapse right under the equipment in the midst of work.

What the choice will ultimately fall on depends on the range and complexity of the tasks. Depending on this, the type of equipment is also selected. For a home workshop or a small workshop, a mini-machine with a wire is more suitable, a power of 5 kW is quite enough for the production of a ton of products. Maybe nails in the end will turn out to be of only one type, but in the end they will be simple and high-quality. Multifunctional units are worth buying if you have a large space and plans for a large-scale production of construction hardware.

Do not forget about stocks of raw materials, which must invariably be in any workshop so that production does not stop.

Popular models

If we talk about popular models, then there are several of them. And most of them are related to wire and nail machines.

  • AB4116 - percussion unit with one hammer. A low carbon wire is used as a raw material, the diameter of which is 4.5 millimeters. The length of the finished nail can be up to 250 mm, on average, this machine produces 350 pieces per minute thanks to a motor with a power of up to 5 kW.
  • K0911702 has a similar power parameter, but products and finished nails are half the size, which can be partially adjusted. And the number of nails in this case can be up to 500 units inclusive.
  • K0911701 wire-nailing unit that produces small nails up to 300 pieces. The power is the same, only the cost is lower and the dimensions are slightly smaller than that of the second type of the same line.
  • Z942C - of all the listed models, the power is half that and produces nails only 50 mm long, but the turnover is up to 300 units per minute, and the quality remains at a good level, despite the lower performance characteristics.

How to choose?

In the process of choosing a machine for the production of nails, you will have to take into account many little things, in addition to the cost and capabilities of a particular model. Besides, you need to remember what voltage the electrical network can withstand in a home workshop and choose the amount and type of equipment based on quality characteristics and parameters:

  • the complexity and specifics of maintenance;
  • productivity of the machine per shift;
  • dimensions and weight of the machine;
  • voltage and resource consumption;
  • characteristics of a particular model.

If the workshop is planned to be organized small, then a few units and the required amount of raw materials will be enough for the foreman. Typically, for a home workshop, the power ceiling is 5 kW. In addition, you will need to pre-purchase a number of additional materials and accessories, such as chopping knives, for example, which must always be sharpened sharply during production.

In semi-automatic or fully automatic production, the foreman will still require minimal steps in the form of periodic replacement of components. Them is also recommended purchase in advance and in large quantities. Large units weighing more than a ton and with bulky dimensions require professional maintenance, their repair usually takes a little time with professional skills.

The work is carried out as follows.

  • The wire is inserted only into the switched off machine. In this case, all dies are opened manually using a special mechanical wheel.
  • The integrity and production activity of the impact component or nail head press is checked.
  • After that, the device starts, automatically performing all the necessary actions. The head is sharpened with a blow or a press, then the wire is melted and cut for the pin of the future nail.

The choice of raw materials also depends on the type of nails. High carbon steel, brass or stainless steel is suitable as a material.Wire, like any other raw material, it is better to immediately buy a certain diameter in the form of special blanks. Which one to choose and how - depends on which machine will be used in the home workshop... The area of such a workshop should be at least 18 square meters, it should be dry and warm, it is worth taking care of high-quality ventilation and air exchange. Thinking in advance about the type and location of the machines, you can save yourself from many problems.

The room must provide a place for the proper storage of raw materials and components, partly for this reason, the room must be dry and ventilated. When choosing a machine for a home workshop, you should pay attention to the most common models. This will solve a possible problem with the repair and purchase of components. Replacing mechanical parts is something that a home craftsman can handle with his own hands, but if the numerical control breaks down or a software failure, the help of a specialist will be required.

Therefore, at first, it is better to choose the simplest models in order to fully get used to the operation algorithm and service features.

In the next video, you will find a brief overview of the AG4116 wire-nail machine.
