FOF plywood: what is it, how this material differs from others - these questions often arise among people associated with work in the construction, repair industry. This material has its own scopes and varieties, advantages and disadvantages. To learn more about it, it is worth considering all these characteristics in as much detail as possible.

What it is?

FOF plywood is manufactured according to the same standards as conventional types of this material. The decoding of its name determines the characteristics of the product. FOF is a laminated moisture-resistant plywood with a film coating on one or two sides. The outer layer of the sheet is paper impregnated with synthetic phenol-formaldehyde resin. It can have almost any color - from neutral to imitation of valuable types of wood, fabric, metal.

FOF-laminated plywood has a lot of obvious advantages. In terms of strength and wear resistance, it surpasses ordinary samples, it is suitable for decorative finishing without additional pasting with films and other materials.

It does not absorb moisture even with direct contact, therefore it can be used in the kitchen or bathroom during the decoration, construction of various auxiliary structures. Sheets can be in standard or large format.

FOF film-faced plywood can be classified by the type of finish: it can be smooth or textured embossed, as well as by the type of base.

Birch

The base of the sheet is made of birch - this type of raw material is most often found in moisture-resistant types of plywood. The veneer from which the layers are formed has high strength and is able to withstand intense physical and mechanical stress. The multilayer structure gives this material the necessary resistance to any external influences.

The sheet is quite flexible, suitable for the manufacture of complex figured elements subjected to constant stress.

Combined

This type of laminated plywood is distinguished by the fact that more than one type of wood is used in its manufacture. In this case, the veneer layers are located symmetrically to the central part of the sheet.... Usually, the outer layers are made from birch, and the inner layers are made from a combination of soft conifers and harder species. The material is cheaper, but retains the properties of the base, has a sufficient margin of safety.

Combined plywood combines all the advantages of deciduous and coniferous wood, for which buyers appreciate it.

Where is it applied?

The main areas of application of FOF film faced plywood are determined by its characteristics and appearance. Most often it turns out to be in demand in:

  • construction and repair;
  • automotive, shipbuilding;
  • advertising industry, in the manufacture of stands and pillars;
  • furniture production;
  • interior decoration;
  • creation of reusable formwork;
  • manufacturing of containers for transportation of medicines and products;
  • floor sheathing.

Excellent mechanical strength and abrasion resistance make FOF plywood the optimal solution for use as flooring in automobile transport, ship decks. This material can have a decorative coating of various colors and shades - embossed or in a smooth version. As such, it is highly regarded by interior designers and furniture manufacturers. Plywood racks, shelves, built-in furniture are durable, can withstand significant loads, can be made in a figured version with complex geometry.

Large-format versions of FOF plywood are suitable for use on large-scale construction projects. They are suitable for the construction of bridges, industrial buildings and structures. Decorative elements for interiors and furniture are made from sheets of the combined type.

Such material complies with the sanitary standards established for gyms.
