To use the doors comfortably, you need to install slide rail door closers. It is this design that is recognized as one of the best. But it is important to understand all its details before making the final choice.

Peculiarities

The operation of the device is based on the so-called cam transmission. The door closer can be placed directly on the door leaf or embedded into the end of the door. The advantage of the design is the absence of protruding parts. This makes the door closer more reliable and more aesthetically pleasing. Sliding rod mechanisms are very easy to install, there will be no problems during operation.

How to choose the right product?

In order for door closers to meet customer expectations, you need to consider:

  • door type;
  • the weight and size of the canvas;
  • thermal conditions in the room;
  • safety requirements.

The heavier the door, the stronger the device must be installed on it. When choosing a door closer for the front door, you need to take care of protection from the cold. Safety requirements are especially high in rooms where children are. The device can be installed:

  • to the top of the canvas;
  • on the floor;
  • on the end of the door.

When choosing between these positions, you should think about both convenience and aesthetics. A quality door closer, wherever it is placed, should close the doors as tightly as possible. But at the same time, the movement occurs smoothly, without jerking. Products from reputable companies can be easily mounted on structures made of all common materials. Also, consumers should be guided when choosing the term of uninterrupted operation and the level of protection against vandals.

It is necessary to immediately decide which is more important - cost savings or reliability and safety. Experts recommend giving preference to such closers that are capable of:

  • set a certain speed of movement of the shutters;
  • fix the open canvas;
  • open and close the door up to a million times without degrading performance.

Types of mechanisms and features of their work

The overhead version of the device is a metal box. Its size is small, but it is still better to prefer a hidden mechanism. When the sash is locked, it is completely invisible. The main working part of the closer is the spring. It is completely submerged in lubricating oil. As soon as the door is opened, the lever presses on the spring and the oil moves inside the housing. When closed, the spring is straightened, and the liquid immediately returns back.

Valves are an additional part of the system. They allow you to adjust the force applied to close the doors. Also, the valves will help limit the speed of the belt so that it does not pop. But no valves will help if the weight of the door was ignored when choosing a closer. For this indicator, the European standard for door closers applies.

Mechanisms of category "EN1" are installed on the interior door. Even the most powerful door closers (category "EN7") will not help if the sash is wider than 160 cm or the leaf is heavier than 160 kg. The "EN" scale indirectly affects the price. The difference in the cost of closers of the same class cannot be significant. Attempts to save money and install a less powerful device than necessary will only lead to quick wear and tear and the need to buy the mechanism again.

    Closers are certainly installed:

    • on any door with hardware access control;
    • at the entrance to the apartment;
    • on all fire passages;
    • at all emergency exits.

    If the door is not equipped with a latch lock, the closer mechanism helps to achieve tight contact between the leaf and the seal around the entire perimeter. Closers with a sliding channel are used to transfer force to a sliding gear. It is these designs that ensure the minimum visibility of the product. You can even put it on doors leading to narrow corridors or small rooms. Both the traction and the wall will not be damaged.
