When choosing furniture for a children's room, remember that babies have their own tastes, which are very different from the preferences of adults. Do not try to make the environment of the child's recreation area solid and respectable - it is better to consult with your baby and make a choice in favor of practical, but bright furniture.

Features and device

An upholstered armchair is an indispensable attribute of any child's room and has its own distinctive features:

  • safety - the absence of sharp corners, so parents do not have to worry that during active games the baby will be injured or damaged;
  • use in the production of fabrics that are pleasant to the touch;
  • bright design - children often choose themed furniture stylized as toys or heroes of their favorite cartoons;
  • ergonomics and comfort - most of the chairs are equipped with a back that supports the child's fragile spine;
  • environmental friendliness - all materials used pass the strictest sanitary control during selection.

    Chairs for a children's room are most often made frame, they are of several types:

    • made of wood - heavy, but durable and reliable;
    • from chipboard - focused on the budget segment;
    • from aluminum pipes - most often found in models of the French clamshell type;
    • of steel - the material is used in the manufacture of transformer models.

    Frameless options are also popular, they are represented by bag models.

    The filler is also important, it is usually used:

    • holofiber;
    • thin foam rubber;
    • synthetic winterizer.

    In bean bags, expanded polystyrene balls act as a filler, it is allowed to partially mix with synthetic fibers. Moreover, the smaller the diameter of these balls, the higher the level of comfort of the chair.

    The last layer of the "pie" is the upholstery, it is she who is assigned the main role in interacting with the child, she experiences maximum loads, therefore, one of the following materials is usually used to make it.

    • Flock - this canvas is pleasant to the touch, visually resembles velvet with a thick dense pile. However, such a sheathing also has its drawbacks, in particular, it is characterized by low abrasion resistance, and if the fabric is of poor quality, then it will fade and stain clothes.

    Flock should not be washed with aggressive cleaning agents and alcohol-containing liquids - they cause a rapid deterioration in the appearance of the product.

    That is why this material is not recommended for a children's room, since babies have a habit of getting everything dirty - such a chair will not last long.

    • Velours - pleasant to the touch, hypoallergenic material. Soft, but prone to abrasion. Sooner or later, this upholstery will “shed”. However, children's furniture is very rarely used for years.
    • Jacquard - a beautiful canvas with a double-sided pattern, visually resembles brocade, but is softer. Most often used to furnish a teenage girl's room.
      • Eco leather - tactilely pleasant material, at the same time very durable. With use, it does not lose its shape, does not stretch, does not wear off and does not fade. It is noteworthy that it can be washed with water using any cleaning agent - this is especially important for children's furniture. However, it has an extremely low ventilation threshold, therefore it cannot be used as a chair-bed.

      When buying furniture for a child, it is desirable that eco-leather is combined with textiles in the product.

      The imagination of the creators of children's furniture is truly great. Nowadays, the range of child seats is wide and varied.

      The most popular varieties include the following options.

      • The first chairs. These are models for the smallest, they have recesses for the legs and allow you to evenly distribute the body weight of the crumbs, thanks to which the fragile spine is protected from unbearable loads.
      • Rocking chairs - in fact, it is a folding chaise longue with locks for children's legs and an option for a swing. Products from reputable manufacturers additionally have orthopedic properties and the ability to adjust the mode of use (sedentary, recumbent and semi-recumbent). Usually children really enjoy spending time in such chairs, which replace them with a swing.
      • Classic models - this furniture completely repeats its adult counterparts, it differs only in size. This solution is optimal for schoolchildren and adolescents.
      • Animals. Chairs in the form of animals and birds can be either frame or frameless. Usually, they use bright, soft materials that are pleasant to the touch and do not cause allergies in the child.
      • Suspended rockers. Such models are presented in the assortment portfolio of many well-known brands, but IKEA products are the most popular.
        • Swivel chair. In its shape, this structure resembles a half of an egg, fixed on a support. For children, such models are additionally sheathed from the inside with a soft cloth.

        Let's take a closer look at the most common options.

        Standard

        At their core, these are the most ordinary chairs, but made in an attractive form for a child. Children's themes can manifest themselves in such moments:

        • bright upholstery;
        • the use of applications;
        • sizes corresponding to a certain age group (preschooler, junior schoolchild, teenager);
        • rounded armrests and backrest.

        Folding

        Armchairs that transform into a sleeping place are considered a good solution for a child's room. The advantages of this choice are many:

        • parents do not have to persuade the child to go to bed - this boring activity will receive a pronounced game message;
        • the transformer is optimal for a small-sized children's room, since it saves space in the daytime;
        • in the process of joint folding and unfolding of the bed, the child learns to order and independence;
        • high functionality combined with small dimensions.

          However, such designs are not without their drawbacks. No matter how hard the manufacturers try, sooner or later differences in height appear between the sections.

          In order to compensate for this discomfort, many are forced to resort to buying orthopedic mattresses. However, in order to accommodate the mattress, the chair must have a high back, otherwise the baby will simply roll to the floor in a dream.

          Depending on the transformation mechanism, the following types are distinguished.

          • Accordion - retractable "accordion", consisting of several sections, fixed movably. Typically, two of them form the backrest, and the third becomes the seat. This design is suitable for frequent use and can withstand up to 25 thousand unfolds.
          • Dolphin. In this case, the seat moves forward, and another section is pulled out from under it. This option is the most inconvenient, since differences in height between sections are inevitable.
          • Roll-out. Here, first of all, the lower section extends, and on top of it the seat reclines. Such models are easy to use, but it is recommended to use them with an orthopedic mattress.
          • Eurobook. The pillow is pulled forward, and the backrest is lowered to the vacant space. This is the most primitive mechanism that even a child can cope with.
          • Click-gag. In this case, all structural elements are assembled in a sleeping place.

          In the form of toys

          Chairs in the form of toys are usually bought for the little ones, they not only serve as a seat, but also become a "companion" in children's games. On sale you can find models of a wide variety of shapes. Most often these are animals, heroes of fairy tales and comics, princes and princesses from their favorite films. Such chairs enliven the interior of the house so much that sometimes it is not immediately possible to see an armchair in them.

          Bags

          The variant has enjoyed great popularity in recent years. Frameless models have many significant advantages:

          • the ability to give any configuration;
          • light weight - no more than 9 kg;
          • high comfort - sitting in such a chair is very comfortable;
          • stylish appearance.

          Such chairs are most often realized in the form of a pear or a round ball.

            But there were also some drawbacks. Over time, you have to pour a portion of fresh styrofoam balls into the chairs and change the outer covers. In addition, the chairs are very easy to ruin, even pets can damage them.

            Popular models and manufacturers

            How to choose?

            The armchair for the child becomes the most important piece of furniture, in which the child watches TV, reads books and even plays. Usually, children love their soft and beautiful chairs and spend most of the day in them.

            When choosing a chair, you should first of all take into account the age of the user: there are models for babies who still cannot sit - they only support the back.

            For older children, you can find on sale orthopedic models with an adjustable backrest, as well as rocking chairs.

            Pay attention to the materials from which the chairs are made - they must be environmentally friendly, hypoallergenic and durable.

            It's no secret that kids love active games - they jump in a chair, jump to the floor and climb back, so the frame must withstand not only the baby's weight, but also his active activities. Don't forget the upholstery. It is better to give preference to options that are easy to clean, wear out slowly and "breathe" at the same time.

              And of course, remember that the furniture you buy is primarily for the child. That's why be sure to take it with you to the store, put it in a chair and watch the reaction of the crumbs - if he likes to sit there, then feel free to buy this product.
