Wrought iron beds are gaining more and more popularity these days. Classic or Provence style - they will add a special charm to your bedroom. Due to their strength, safety, versatility and variety of shapes, they are ideal for a child's room.

There are many models on the market today for children of all ages - from cribs for newborns to stylish teenage beds.

Varieties of metal cots

In the creation of wrought iron beds, modern technologies are used, thanks to which, the models are durable and at the same time look stylish. Metal is an environmentally friendly material, easy to use. Hygiene is one of the factors that parents give preference to when choosing furniture for the nursery.

With one berth

Single metal beds will appeal to both boys and girls. For boys, restrained models, without patterns, are more suitable. Beds for girls can be either classic shapes or carriages with metal curtain supports. The cold forging method makes the bed soft and airy. Openwork patterns and a canopy give the models a special tenderness.

From above, the metal frame is treated with powder paint, which makes it possible to paint the product in various shades. A variety of colors allows you to choose an option for any age, gender and interior.

Two tiers

This type of bed is in great demand, especially when you need to place two beds in a small nursery. Manufacturers offer models of various prices and designs. These can be either conservative options, consisting of only two berths with a ladder, or more complex designs with all kinds of shelves for storing linen or toys. Children are especially pleased with the possibility of climbing stairs. This bed is an additional place for games.

Bunk beds look very impressive, while they are compact, which allows you to significantly free up space in the nursery. Beds in 2 tiers have a strong, reinforced metal frame; all models have protective bumpers. Parents need not worry about the safety of their children. The second tier will fully support the weight of two children.

Some manufacturers produce metal transforming bunk beds. If necessary, the structure can be disassembled into two single beds, which is very convenient.

Metal cots for children

Manufacturing companies produce metal beds even for babies. They are no less safe than the more familiar wood options. Structures can be of the following types:

  • Cradle cot. These cribs are designed specifically for the little ones and are a cradle in which it is convenient to rock a child. The cradles are made entirely of metal elements, and the presence of special sides and the reliability of the metal frame ensure the complete safety of the child. Manufacturers equip the cradles with wheels that make it easy to move it around the apartment. Parents often prefer such models because of their low cost, compactness and light weight. Some manufacturers install in the cradles a mechanism for automatically rocking a child and a mobile with toys over the head of the cradle.
  • A cot with a pendulum. These models are also in high demand. The pendulum simplifies the process of rocking a child.

There are 3 variants of pendulum designs:

  1. transverse - equipped with a special device that rocks the bed from side to side;
  2. longitudinal - swing back and forth on special runners.
  3. universal - the child's motion sickness occurs manually.

Advantages and disadvantages

Among the advantages are:

  • strength, reliability - metal beds are not subject to deformation, temperature and humidity changes are not dangerous for them;
  • wear resistance;
  • environmental friendliness of the material, high hygienic characteristics.

The disadvantages of metal beds should be noted only the susceptibility to rust with poor-quality coating of parts and the high cost of handmade products. Of course, serial production significantly reduces the cost of models several times.

Selection Tips

When choosing metal beds special attention should be paid to the following points:

  • the absence of sharp corners - this way you reduce the likelihood of injury to the child;
  • the presence of sides is a prerequisite for 2-tier structures, as well as the quality of the fixing elements;
  • no scratches and dents;
  • stability of the structure.

A quality metal bed will delight parents and children for many years.
