The ceiling in a children's room has not been perceived as an ordinary flat surface for a long time - its surface is actively used by all modern designers, since the walls, which used to perform the main decorative function, today are often filled with furniture. Since there is still no escape from the ceiling, it is worth thinking about how to bring it to mind in the nursery for the boy.

Materials (edit)

To begin with, it is worth deciding what exactly to decorate the ceiling with, because the options are different, and they differ in both practicality and durability, and in cost.

The easiest option is to paint the surface. Such a solution is relatively rare today, if we talk about such a ceiling in its pure form, without suspended structures. The work can be done independently - any person can find the money for it. The repair will be relatively durable and will not particularly suffer from children's pranks, but this solution looks extremely primitive.

It is worth trying to add colors and patterns by pasting, for example, the ceiling with wallpaper. As a result, installation will be more difficult, and the result is likely to be less durable. But such an undertaking may be more in line with the interests of the baby.

A popular, but relatively expensive, modern solution is tension (based on elastic material such as fabric or PVC film) and suspended (based on drywall) structures. They not only look beautiful, but also provide increased thermal and acoustic insulation of the room. In addition, such ceilings hide the irregularities of the original ceiling and some communications. The service life of such a repair, unless a real tomboy lives in the room, is usually at least 10 years, but it is difficult to make it yourself.

Moreover, in pursuit of the boy's ideals, parents run the risk of paying much more than expected, and even dragging out the repairs, since the implementation of an individual order may take a certain amount of time.

Age guidelines

There are certain principles in the design of children's rooms that are used regardless of style and are largely tied to the age of the child living here. For example, preschool children require a certain stimulus for active knowledge of the world around them, in which bright colors are called upon to help them, therefore, it is advisable not to make the ceiling pale and colorless. At this stage, the development of the boy largely takes place through active games, so the design of the ceiling can only contribute to the development of not only physical, but also mental indicators. It is very good if the ceiling stimulates the curiosity of the baby - for example, instills in him a love for the same cartoon characters, who learn a lot in their animated series.

If the boy is already hyperactive, bright drawings should be avoided - it is better to choose something calmer, neutral.

Children of primary and secondary school age are still quite active, but at this stage of their lives their main strength should be directed to study, not to play. However, the game can also be cognitive and useful even from the point of view of the school curriculum, but then it must be carefully selected, since no child will play something that is only useful but not interesting. Boys are traditionally close to geography and astronomy, so placing a real map of the world or the starry sky on the ceiling will be quite appropriate.

By the way, the copy does not have to be perfect, the main thing is that the kid understands that the ceiling is not the ultimate truth, and knows where to get the truthful information. Biology can also be an alternative branch of knowledge - then a print with animals can provide a practical pattern on the ceiling.

For a teenager, it is already inherent in the ability to independently separate responsibilities from rest, and on the ceiling he would like to see exactly the latter. A significant part of his energy is spent either outside the house or at his desk, so he wants to rest in any other part of his room. In this regard, many guys would prefer something in the form of a print on the ceiling that is close in spirit or simply interesting - it could be their favorite football team, a motorcycle or car, a famous musician or actor. By the way, the hobbies of past years, such as geography or astronomy, could have survived, but now the maximum correspondence to reality is important, because adolescents are usually quite critical.

Many young people have a desire to relax, they are not looking for opportunities to demonstrate their hobby everywhere, but they will appreciate minimalism - in this case, the ceiling can be just plain, without any frills.

Advice

Even the most successful ceiling design idea can turn into a complete failure if some important points were not taken into account during its implementation. For example, a glossy stretch ceiling is guaranteed to give a lot of glare, and although this helps to visually "raise" it, strong lighting here is simply dazzling. A matte surface is much better suited for conveying any bright pictures, but dark shades and too large elements cannot be used on it, otherwise the feeling of heaviness cannot be avoided.

Color plays a huge role in design, and it's not about personal preference. In cold and shaded rooms, preference is given to light and warm colors of finishes, while in warm and sunny rooms it is better to choose dark and cool colors, including for the ceiling.

In addition, a light color raises the ceiling, as it were, makes the room taller, and a dark one, accordingly, provides a completely opposite effect.

At the age of ten years, the color scheme also affects the behavior of the child. If he is overly active and this causes problems, the room, including the ceiling, is best done in cold, mostly faded colors. If the baby clearly lacks activity for development, it is worth giving preference to the most bright, warm colors, as well as complex drawings with an abundance of details.
