An antique wall clock can be a great interior decoration. This unusual accent is most often used in vintage style. But the old decorative element is also appropriate in some modern trends.

Peculiarities

Vintage watches are a luxury, which is why some models have insanely high prices. However, connoisseurs of such things are ready to pay any amount for an antique copy.

Antique clocks are usually made made of natural wood, but there are models made of precious metals... They can be of various shapes and sizes. There are miniature models with cuckoos and large variants with a fight.

Cuckoo products first appeared in wealthy homes, but then they became popular among all segments of the population. Large striking watches are still an expensive option.

Popular manufacturers

Wall clocks were made by different brands.

"Pavel Bure"

This is a Russian brand that appeared in St. Petersburg in 1815. But in 1917, as a result of the revolution, the company was destroyed. However, there is information that Vladimir Lenin had a watch of this brand on the wall in his office. In 2004 the company resumed its activities in Russia. There are various models of meteorite iron or natural wood, which are decorated with carvings and other decorative elements.

Gustav becker

This brand was founded by an Austrian in Prussia. The company was engaged in the production of large interior clocks. If at first she made fairly simple models, then over time the design and structure of the mechanism became more complicated. The antique is a wooden clock with weights that had to be lowered to start the movement. Later designs are equipped with a spring mechanism. Models were decorated with carvings on various themes. These could be ancient heroes, plants and flowers, or other decorative elements.

As a result of the transition to mass production, the design of the watches has become simpler and more rigorous, but their quality has improved significantly.

Becker brand products were in demand not only among Prussian buyers but also among German ones.

Henry Moser & Co

It is a Swiss company focused on the Russian market. Its founder was born into a family of a watchmaker and continued his father's business. In the 19th century, a sales office in St. Petersburg and a Trading House in Moscow were opened. And through Russia, the watches were sent to the markets of India and China. In 1913, the brand managed to become an official supplier for the Imperial Court. After the revolution in Russia, the company focused on other countries.

Wall clocks were made of oak or walnut. Art Nouveau design is characteristic of the early 20th century. All older models had regulators for a week or two.

Subsequently, the International Watch Company was created, which became one of the first mass watch manufacturers in Switzerland.

AD. Mougin deux medaille

The French company made watches using the Boulle technique. They were often made from white-pink marble or bronze. All vintage models look sleek and sophisticated. They perfectly complement classic interiors.

Ricahrds

This firm is originally from Paris. The watch production began in 1900. All models are equipped with a silver-plated escapement mechanism. The dial is decorated with Arabic numerals applied with silicon enamel. In the middle of all dials, the inscription was applied: Ricahrds, Paris. These pieces are popular with collectors.
