In apartments and country houses, individual elements of the interior can perform at least two functions - carry an obligatory functional load and be a special design solution, which is a real work of art. Designer sconces can become such household items. They can decorate any room of a house and apartment - bedrooms, living rooms, halls and other premises.

Such lamps are not only the imagination and flight of the designer's creative thought, interesting materials and unusual solutions, but also an interior item that creates a special atmosphere.

Peculiarities

Sources of additional lighting in the room are required in many cases. Wall lights are ideal for many situations where extra light is needed in the room. Wall-mounted sconces were very popular in Soviet times.

In almost every apartment, two light sources were installed in the rooms at once. A hanging chandelier was most often placed traditionally in the center of the room under the ceiling and was the main source of light in the dark. The second source is a table lamp or sconce mounted on the wall.

A wide range of such lamps was presented in household appliances stores, they had different shapes and were always affordable. But years have passed, and today sconces are a special element of indoor decor. Designer lamps are made of a wide variety of materials: glass, ceramics, metal, plastic, various additional elements that decorate the lighting fixture are used.

This is the peculiarity of designer lamps: not only to illuminate the room, but to decorate it with your own original performance.

Such interior items really decorate the room, complement its style, composition with unusual architectural solutions and materials used in the work, emphasize the interior features.

How to choose?

When choosing wall lamps, you should clearly understand where in the room they will be located. On which wall, for example, in the children's room, it is supposed to place the sconce - on the far wall, where there is the least natural light in the room, on the side, where the child's desk is located, or near the sleeping place. Each of these options requires a different approach to the choice, as in principle, and in every other room.

Of course, in living rooms and halls, the choice of sconces is approached with special attention - in such rooms, lamps serve not only as an element of decor, but also as a lighting device that redirects light to the desired areas of the room.

When choosing lamps, you need to pay attention to their shapes - sconces of various shapes and sizes are most often suitable for large spacious rooms. In rooms with low ceilings, massive sconces look inappropriate, compact small rectangular lamps or elongated sconces look much better.

If the room is decorated in a modern Art Nouveau style with bright reactive interior design solutions, it is unlikely that wall lamps with an antique look will fit into the atmosphere. And vice versa - in a classic-style room with heavy curtains and tapestries on the walls, you should not buy modern "flashy" sconces.

Style is the basis of design solutions. Buying a lighting fixture shouldn't be in vain. The sconce should be in harmony with the general style of the apartment or house, make the atmosphere more pleasant and expressive, have suitable shapes and sizes, and acceptable colors. Each of these elements can overlap with some interior details, and then it will be considered a harmonious approach to the design of the room.

Experts recommend using design proposals made of wood with shades made of colored glass, plastic, ceramics or dense fabric for a classic-style interior.

By the way, designer sconces can be made in limited quantities, and even more often in a single copy. This means that the second such lamp on sale will no longer be found, and this is its originality and value.

Such lighting devices are much more expensive than industrial-made lamps produced in large quantities.

A modern approach to lighting

The authors of the designer lighting fixtures take into account all modern features, including the control of the lamps. Surprisingly, they do not need to be mains powered to use them. On sale there are sconces that react to movement in rooms and turn on, as soon as a person enters the room.

Smart technologies allow you to control the brightness of the lighting, often lamps have a two-three-phase program of light brightness and change the flow of light from touching the plafond.

By touching its surface, you can turn on the sconce, by touching it twice - increase or decrease the brightness of the lighting, touching it a third time - turn it off.

Often, the authors of design developments use batteries and power elements as a source of energy, and the devices themselves do not have the usual traditional bulbs, but LEDs. They can be multi-colored, which gives a special mood to the room.

When choosing a sconce in a design, it is important to remember what exactly the device will serve.

  • Lighting near the bed is required for evening reading, and then the light should be bright and at the same time muted.
  • Lamps in the child's bedroom should not irritate the brightness and not distract the baby from sleep.
  • In the kitchen or in the dining room, for additional illumination of the places where food is prepared and food is eaten, the light should be rich and bright.
  • In the hall and in the living room - with the possibility of distributing light fluxes, so that guests and households feel cozy and comfortable.
