Aluminum is a versatile, strong and durable metal. It is easy to process, therefore it is widespread in various spheres of human activity, including creativity. An aluminum molding is a metal frame (frame) made of an aluminum alloy.

Peculiarities

For the production of aluminum baguettes, extruded aluminum is used (a special processing method). Thanks to this technology, products receive the following valuable qualities.

  • Light weight. Compared to an ordinary wooden molding, aluminum is lightweight, so frames with photos or paintings can be hung even on a lightweight structure such as a plasterboard wall.

  • Resistance to mechanical impact. Despite its lightness, the metal has a fairly high strength. It does not deform, for example, if it falls to the floor.

  • Reliability. An aluminum molding can support a heavy object fixed in it.

  • Environmental Safety.

  • Durability. Frames made of this metal do not corrode, and also retain their properties and attractive appearance for a long time of use.

  • UV resistant. For example, plastic materials can change their original color under the sun's rays, while aluminum only needs to be cleaned periodically.

  • Stylish and aesthetic appearance.

  • Picky care.

  • Resistant to sudden changes in temperature and humidity.

  • Versatility. The products can be used in any premises.

By design, a baguette profile can be of two types: the first is used to work with stretch ceilings, the second is used for decorative work (framing, frames, and so on).

Molding for ceiling structures

To decide which ceiling moldings are preferable (plastic or metal), you need to contact a professional. All experts say that it is better to choose an aluminum material. Such designs have several configurations, are highly reliable, but have an order of magnitude higher price.

The main types are listed below.

  • Wall profile - used for mounting canvases to the plane of the wall. The wall molding has increased rigidity, due to which it maintains a straight line and does not repeat the unevenness of the surface. Height loss no more than 35 mm. The stronger the base, the wider the pitch of the screws, on average it should be 150-200 mm. To hide the joints and gaps, decorative inserts in the form of T and L beeches are used.

  • Ceiling profile - mounted to the ceiling and other horizontal surfaces, if it is not possible to fix it to the wall. The loss in height when working with a ceiling molding is no more than 20 mm. The width of the pitch of the self-tapping screws is 15 mm. To bend a baguette, you need to make cuts on it, which in turn affects the reliability indicators of the structure. To mask the joints, T and L profiles are also used.

Separating profile - such a baguette is used if you need to mount two canvases: a) if the size of the stretch ceiling is very large and there is a risk that it will sag after installation; b) you need to bypass the columns and any oval structures, as well as when installing multi-level ceilings. Height loss is no more than 20 mm. The joints are closed with decorative flexible tapes.

Additional types of aluminum baguettes:

  • universal - can be mounted both to the plane of the wall and to the plane of the ceiling;

  • corner - installed simultaneously on the wall and ceiling (used if you need to bypass any protrusions or create a multi-level structure);

  • flexible - used for the installation of complex stretch ceilings.

Baguettes for ceiling structures are made: visible when the structure is visible on a stretched canvas, and invisible if the structure is hidden behind the canvas.

Decorative baguettes

The decorative aluminum molding is a product that has appeared on the market not so long ago. Quite a simple design, but it looks very attractive. Lightweight and durable material that can be easily customized to any size and shape.

By the type of surface decoration, there are the following types.

  • Natural or bright. In this case, the paint is applied using a special technology, but not on the surface of the metal itself, but inside, that is, the dye, as it were, impregnates the material. This coloring method minimizes the possibility of the paint layer peeling off and eliminates the risk of other defects.

  • Matte or glossy. A glossy baguette has a shiny varnished surface. Matte baguette has a dull rather than shiny surface. A matte surface is ideal for rich and vibrant work, while a glossy surface is ideal for more relaxed.

Application methods

Baguettes for ceiling structures are also used for other works. For example:

  • exterior decoration of houses;

  • installation of stretch ceilings;

  • advertising on the streets and indoors;

  • design of showcases and shelves;

  • decorating art objects.

Aluminum decorative profile is used:

  • for photo frames, picture frames and posters;

  • for decorating documents where solemnity is needed;

  • for framing mirrors;

  • for interior decoration in residential and office premises.

Examples in the interior

Aluminum baguettes, despite their simplicity and lack of decor, are widely used. They found another name - office. In addition to being used as picture frames, they are used to decorate various documents - diplomas, Certificates of honor and letters of thanks. And they are also used for interior decoration in living quarters in loft, hi-tech, minimalism and others styles.

In a kitsch and trash interior, simple baguettes benefit from bright colors and brutal elements. Accents are manifested in rich shades and their mixtures.

Minimalistic laconicism - the restrained design of the room is diluted with graphic baguettes.

With the help of simple shapes, you can decorate mirrors, unusual paintings by artists, photographs, without breaking the general style.

An unusual idea of using an aluminum molding is the design of window and door openings. This also includes another idea - the design of aquariums.

The duplicated line of the ceiling plinth looks interesting, but this can only be done in rooms with high ceilings.

You need to step back from the main finish by 5-10 cm, and then start up an additional thin and light strip below.

For the final decoration of the premises, baguettes are almost always used. They now play a significant role in interior design. Correctly selected material will emphasize the style and uniqueness of the house, apartment, office.
