Modern trends return cozy and respectable furniture to the interior. Leather chairs are not affordable for everyone, but they are durable, reliable, and easy to care for. Outwardly, they look solemn and elegant, stand out from other analogues, have advantages and disadvantages.

Peculiarities

Modern methods of manufacturing leather chairs allow products to acquire a creative look, not forgetting about original shapes and different colors. Due to a wide selection of models, they fit into any interior: classic, minimalism, hi-tech, retro and other stylistic directions. The high quality and practicality of this material allows you to use leather furniture in any room. Leather chairs not afraid of temperature extremes, moisture, which is especially important if the chair is in the kitchen. Chairs with leatherette or eco-leather upholstery have no less impressive look. They cost much less, but outwardly it is difficult to distinguish them from natural upholstery.

Depending on which room or office the chair will be located in, the design solution of the room, you can choose one or another model. There are several types of leather chairs:

  • with or without a back;
  • with and without armrests;
  • frame made of different materials.

Each person has his own needs and preferences, from which he starts when choosing furniture. With this in mind, manufacturers produce two types of leather chairs:

  • hard, which has a long service life (planes are less susceptible to serious damage);
  • soft, the most comfortable, the durability of which depends on the material of the upholstery and filler (some fillers tend to lose elasticity).

Manufacturers offer the following varieties:

  • chair-standard;
  • folding;
  • stackable.

Transformability is an important detail, which is one of the advantages of this furniture. Folding models are uniquely economical: when folded, they save usable space, which is especially important for small-sized rooms. These products are convenient and help out in the event of the arrival of guests or relatives, allowing everyone to be accommodated in comfort.

Materials (edit)

The main components of a leather chair are the frame and the upholstery. For the basis of the product, wood and metal are used in production. As an upholstery, trade marks use natural fabric and its synthetic substitutes. The skin is natural material, thanks to which it looks solid and lasts a long time. It is easy to clean and highly resistant to abrasion.

Leatherette and eco-leather are two synthetic varieties of a natural analogue. They are somewhat simpler in appearance and performance. These materials have a woven backing with a glued leather surface, so their abrasion resistance is less, and the resistance to chemicals when cleaning is worse.

The difference between eco-leather and leatherette is hypoallergenic components. It is an environmentally friendly material, no less durable and solid.

Colour

Everyone is accustomed to the fact that natural leather has neutral shades, among which models in black, white, beige, brown, gray are more common. Thanks to modern technologies, the range of upholstery has been significantly expanded today. Added to the base paints:

  • sand, coffee, mustard and cappuccino tones;
  • blue and sea colors (turquoise, mint, aqua);
  • green tones (emerald, light green);
  • warm colors (yellow, orange, red, fuchsia).

The variety of shades allows you to choose the most successful option for an interior in a classic, ethnic or modern style.

Advantages and disadvantages

Solid, elegant and respectable appearance are not the only advantages of genuine leather chairs. Such products have a whole a number of other advantages, among which are especially relevant:

  • resistance to moisture, abrasion and the formation of puffs on the surface of the material;
  • density of the material (does not allow animal hair, dust, pollution);
  • lack of static electricity;
  • fire resistance: genuine leather does not catch fire when a spark hits it or near an open flame;
  • ease of care in case of accidental spilling of drinks, food on the surface of the upholstery;
  • tensile strength (elastic);
  • a wide choice of textures: the surface can be smooth, glossy, matte, embossed (for example, under crocodile skin or tortoiseshell).

Minuses

Alas, natural leather also has disadvantages. Tear resistance does not save the material from accidental scissor cuts, the systematic point of pets' claws. Often, the upholstery suffers from awls, handles, stationery knives. Not every type of felt-tip pen, pen or marker can be removed from the surface: sometimes a trace remains, because not everything can be washed, especially if the color of the upholstery is light. Is a barrier to purchase and high price... It forces the buyer to pay attention to leatherette analogs.

How to choose?

In order for the purchase of leather chairs to allow the models to harmoniously fit into the existing interior, it is important to take into account a number of nuances: you should carefully look at all the details in the room where the leather chairs will be located. The solid appearance of the products plays an important role in the selection, however, comfort should come first:

  • the back should rest, not feel the pressure of individual parts (it is preferable to choose models with back support);
  • the feeling of squeezing on the sides should not be a priori;
  • the seat should not be tight for crossing the legs;
  • the height of the back, the depth, width of the seat and the degree of softness of the accessory play an important role in determining the convenience of a person's position;
  • it is important to pay attention to the quality of the material, the connecting seams and the elasticity of the packing (it must be dense, withstanding a large weight load).

If the chair will be moved frequently, it is better to choose a product that is light in weight. This saves the strength and surface of the floor covering.

Pay attention to the material of the frame: massive furniture does not fit into every interior. In modern perception, lightweight materials are needed that rid the space of the feeling of heaviness.

For a small room or kitchen, you can purchase a folding chair with faux eco-leather. If necessary, it quickly and easily unfolds into a complete furniture accessory. When the need passes, it can be folded, placed against the wall, or even put away in the pantry. Taking into account the style direction of the interior and design features, leather chairs can be selected in the same tone with the existing furnishings or in soft contrast, using as bright accents. This can distract attention from the unsightly corners of the room and emphasize the uniqueness of the style.

Care Tips

Leather furniture can last for a long time. In order for it to be durable, it is necessary to take into account a few nuances:

  • The skin is afraid of solvents, rough brushes and powders, which include abrasive ingredients. They can damage the surface of the upholstery, leaving streaks and scratches on it.
  • If liquid gets on the seat of the chair, do not wait for the moisture to evaporate or dry itself: you need to immediately blot the moisture and wipe the surface dry with a cloth.
  • Hot objects (hair dryer, iron) spoil the skin. Care should be taken so that heating devices do not touch the surface of the furniture.
  • There are special products for skin care: it is important to use them in order to remove stubborn dirt.

With proper care and careful operation, this furniture will last long enough. Handle the furniture carefully (for example, lift it so as not to loosen the case). For advice on caring for leather furniture, see below.

Examples in the interior

Leather chairs bring notes of luxury and elegance to the interior, they speak of the well-being of the owners of the house and hint at aristocracy:

  • to work in your office or living room, you can purchase a white leather chair-chair: a light shade will give the room lightness and freshness, large armrests, a backrest and a comfortable seat will allow you to concentrate on work;
  • leather pieces of furniture in the kitchen are a stylish solution for modern interiors (models with a metal frame are relevant);
  • for a classic kitchen, products with leather upholstery and a wooden frame are more suitable;
  • recently, a fashionable trend has become the equipment of the kitchen with a bar counter and leather chairs for it: the colors of such products can be different, as well as the appearance.

When choosing leather chairs, it is important to study customer reviews of specific brands of products. This will allow you to buy a quality product that will last long enough without changing reliability and strength.

So that the purchase does not disappoint, it is worth choosing a store with a good reputation.
