It is difficult to find such a house where a wardrobe would not be used at all, this piece of furniture helps not only to store various things, but also to make style accents. It turns out to be used even as the semantic center of the interior, as the core of the whole room. But we need to figure out why the double-leaf options are so popular and important.

Design and equipment

There are often statements that wardrobes are undividedly dominant in the market, and only wardrobe systems challenge their monopoly. This is absolutely not the case, wardrobes remain in demand in the 21st century.

Existing furniture of this kind is produced:

  • With shelves (for storing folded clothes).
  • With a mezzanine (for hats and caps, bags, bags, gloves).
  • With a bar (just it, providing the placement of hangers, takes away the main part of the length).
  • A pair of doors (one of which is sometimes equipped with auxiliary parts).

A look from the side notices the most ordinary cabinet with sides, lid and bottom. The differences relate to the internally located elements, which vary by model and reflect user preferences.

A widespread scheme is that there are shelves on the left, and a compartment for hangers is provided on the right. Usually, it is exactly where there are shelves and compartments with drawers, including pull-out ones (although this is not necessary).

Products with mirrored surfaces are perceived well, however, their use should be very clearly entered into the interior. And be sure to think whether you will be able to ensure the proper quality and frequency of cleaning, whether the constant pollution will not cause too much nervous tension.

Otherwise, an ordinary door with a mirror or its location on the facade will be an excellent alternative.

Opening a shallow cabinet, you will find that the rods run at right angles to the bottom and top, sometimes extending. If the depth is 0.65 meters or more, engineers choose a longitudinal arrangement, which helps to place the largest number of hangers in the same volume.

A distance is left between the shelves, which allows:

  • store things folded;
  • calmly get them out and put them down, without disturbing the order on the next tier;
  • immediately assess the condition of the clothes.

Constructions supplemented with redundant side brackets are preferable: thanks to them, you can put the shelf yourself at the height you want. It is rare to find a wardrobe with more than three drawers.

Among modern versions, more convenient than others are those where there are modular systems with interchangeable parts, but such cabinets will have to be installed in a separate dressing room, for bedrooms and children's rooms they are too large.

Pros and cons of two-door models

Their indisputable advantages are:

  • completeness of use of the premises (after all, the cabinet is mobile, well disassembled and assembled, it can be moved to the right place);
  • easy access to stored items (sliding doors of the compartment make the interior space only partially accessible);
  • great freedom of choice for the consumer (double-leaf models, even ready-made ones, allow you to remove individual elements and leave only what you need);
  • harmonious entry into any interior (the fact that the wardrobe is old-fashioned is just a delusion, modern versions look decent and are convenient to use).

There is only one drawback: there is a minimum area of the room, at which only two-door wardrobes can be used. If you got just this one, you will have to prefer the compartment version.

Views

A universal double wardrobe for outerwear will come in handy in small bedrooms and children's bedrooms. Everything you need will be in one place and will always be available. Wardrobes (also called combined) are equipped with drawers, mezzanines, a compartment for hangers, shelves. They are intended for hallways and large bedrooms.

A big problem is the assessment of the need for drawers, shelves, the number of required hangers; it is especially difficult to do this if a child's closet is chosen. The solution is often a modular system, it can look beautiful and unusual.

In the linen closet, clothes can be placed exclusively folded, they are assigned to:

  • boxes;
  • roll-out shelves;
  • baskets.

The customer can both trust the designers, their ability to assess the needs of consumers, and assemble the perfect combination from ready-made blocks. The wardrobe in any case contains a bar for hangers or its more modern counterpart - a pantograph. In addition to hanging things, they can be put on the mezzanine, and sometimes also on the lower shelves, mostly shoes and bags get there.

A wall cabinet is much less common than a floor cabinet, because it requires a very strong main wall. Its indisputable advantage will be the availability of the floor for cleaning. A two-section wardrobe with legs is very common. In fact, it is a hybrid of linen and wardrobe formats.

Storing work clothes in closets is also possible, but you will have to choose them even more carefully than usual: after all, you need to ensure that the harmful conditions of the working environment will be stable.

Forms

Corner wardrobe is appropriate where you want to make the most of literally every square centimeter. But saving space does not remove the obligation to calculate the product, otherwise it will either not fit into the situation, or it will turn out to be insufficiently capacious, or it will still go beyond the planned dimensions.

A narrow cabinet can be a way out if the room is relatively small and yet it is not worth narrowing it too much so that unnatural imbalances do not turn out. It is permissible to use almost flat structures if they stand along the wall of a room or corridor, then this will be a positive side.

Dimensions (edit)

A double wardrobe can be quite varied in size: small-width options, for example, are useful in bathrooms, kitchens and children's rooms, and wide ones, reaching the ceiling, in bedrooms, hallways and living rooms. In addition to these considerations, take into account how large the apartment (house) and the room are, what their style and color are, how many people and how actively they will use the closet.

A wardrobe with a mezzanine should not be higher than 250 cm, and without it - higher than 220 cm.Check whether 30 centimeters is left between the shelves for clothes - this is the optimal distance that allows you to use the wardrobe comfortably, and at the same time store everything you need ...

Materials (edit)

Wardrobes have long been created using a variety of materials. The days when only wood and steel were used for them are long gone. Chipboard (laminated chipboard) is used more often than other types of materials, due to its availability for manufacturers and consumers, it lasts for a long time. It is recommended to carefully study the labeling, some brands of chipboard are capable of emitting toxic substances.

Fiberboard (Fibreboard), otherwise called hardboard, is used very limited - in the back panels and in the bottoms of boxes.The only advantage of this material is its strength. But MDF panels are in demand for decorating cabinet facades, since they are convenient, practical and varied in tone and texture.

If you have the money, be sure to order two-door wardrobes made of natural solid wood - they are invariably luxurious and elegant. Important: in rooms decorated in an ultra-modern style, such furniture will look alien and will tear the whole composition.

Most of the metal is used for the manufacture of fittings:

  • stainless steel;
  • chrome-plated steel parts;
  • aluminum structures.

Styles

Are you scared off by the thought that two-door wardrobes are outdated? Feel free to discard them, now it is not difficult to find a solution that will do honor to any interior.

The choice is strictly individual, but there are some basic principles that greatly simplify it:

  • in rooms with a calm, balanced style, pieces of furniture made of chipboard, reproducing the texture of natural wood, will be ideal;
  • white MDF with glossy films will harmoniously fit into a high-tech or minimalist bedroom;
  • imitation of old structures is quite consistent with the retro style, in a vintage room it is also appropriate;
  • when it is required to store children's things, there is no doubt the advantage of bright and juicy tones (they stimulate independent dressing and undressing, give vigor);
  • to emphasize the furniture, to make it the core of the whole furnishings, you can use doors with contrasting colors.

A Provencal-style wardrobe can become a real decoration of an apartment, and the capacious upper shelves will appeal to most people. The trendy design (in versatile white) blends harmoniously into the bedroom. The classic format will help to advantageously beat the similar design of the room, emphasize the luxury and elegance of the atmosphere. Just a two-door wardrobe with a mirror that occupies one of the doors is discreet and practical; it can be used in the hallway and in the bedroom.

For children, it is worth choosing not just a beautiful wardrobe, but also one in which there are many shelves and their maximum capacity. It is not wise to use hangers to store small, easily folded clothes.

Furniture facade colors and designs

A dwelling decorated in a classic way will only benefit from using a wardrobe in a calm tone (for example, white or brown). Patterns are generally acceptable, but the fewer decorative elements, the better, this principle is advisable to use when choosing a minimalist style.

In high-tech interiors, the brighter the tones, the better and you can easily choose the most saturated colors; regardless of style. A similar step is appropriate in the nursery. Provencal rooms should be furnished with products in light pastel colors, especially with drawings of appropriate themes (flowers, fruits). An overly bright color looks bad where color accents have already appeared; you should not turn the apartment into a focus of color spots.

Photo printing helps to transform furniture, make design interesting and attractive. But keep in mind that the selection of a suitable image must be very careful: when you approach it lightly, you can soon find that the picture has ceased to be liked or even started to cause negative emotions.

How to choose and where to put a wardrobe with two doors?

Traditionally, wardrobes are installed:

  • to the nursery;
  • into the living room;
  • into the bedroom.

It is difficult to say which of these options is better - the exact answer depends on the specific apartment or house: where there is enough space to install and open doors, they usually put it there.

Another nuance: a properly placed cabinet does not attract attention, it is perceived organically and imperceptibly.

The experience of using it allows us to give the following general recommendations:

  • if possible, fill an empty corner, be sure to use it (this will remove the need to think about how the doors will open);
  • in bedrooms and nurseries, it is optimal to lean the wardrobe with its end against one of the walls;
  • in small rooms, it is appropriate to use not one wardrobe, but a string of them (the depth should be minimal and the same for everyone);
  • those seeking to correspond to fashion trends can choose a "portal" (with such a system, pieces of furniture stand on the sides of the doorway, as if framing it).

Lonely wardrobes, detached from the rest of the furniture, visually seem ridiculous in themselves. In any case, it is worth moving them away from batteries and other heating devices, even if this violates the key design principles.

The size should strictly correspond to the size of the room where the cabinet will stand.

In the absence of an opportunity to buy solid wood furniture, it is worth taking chipboard, but carefully assess its quality and see if all outwardly visible edges are covered with a plastic edge. Already in the store, evaluate whether the assembly is good, regardless of whether you will do it yourself or not, take a closer look at the hinges and fasteners. A general rule that must not be forgotten: the more people in the house, the larger the cupboards should be.

Before you bring the furniture home, try to mentally put it in one place, in another - see where it will fit most organically and will not attract too much attention. Corner versions with a pair of doors ensure that all previously empty spaces are covered. Dividing the room into functional parts is not a bad idea either. Transparent and translucent doors are appropriate only for decorative furniture; it will be inconvenient to use it for its intended purpose (for storing clothes).

Carefully check whether the drawers slide out normally, whether the shelves are strong, and whether it will be possible to place all the necessary clothes. It makes no sense to buy a cabinet with a plastic bar, it is too short-lived. Inspect the product from all sides so as not to miss even minor flaws. And do not forget to ask the sellers about the availability of quality certificates.

Fashionable interiors

Almost always, the wardrobe turns out to be a "trendsetter" in the room where it will be placed. You can make the interior more interesting by choosing models with carvings and atypical decorative elements. Spending on them is quite justified, because comfort and coziness in many respects depends on the quality of the cabinet. Luxurious and noble notes are added when using structures made of light (pine, oak) or dark (cherry, walnut) wood.

It is not difficult to prove your acquaintance with fashion trends, for this you just need to choose cabinets with bamboo inserts; designers also recommend not to abandon the use of mirrors unless absolutely necessary.

In addition to their obvious function and visual expansion of space, they are an integral part of almost all styles in use today. An exception would be a dark room - there a wardrobe with a mirror will show bad taste. It does not go well with aristocratic headsets, full of carvings, with antique furniture.

A wardrobe without a mirror must match the decor of the room in style, color and texture; this will eliminate the visual overload of the room, will help to introduce a new piece of furniture into the existing ensemble harmoniously.

Remember the main thing: you choose wardrobes not for the sake of fashion, but for yourself.

No matter how popular, for example, a certain color, ornament or pattern is - give it up if you don't like it. New trends in the interior and style only indicate the general direction, and you need to choose from several options and apply them flexibly on your own.
