A wardrobe is an irreplaceable piece of furniture in every home or apartment. The choice of this piece of furniture should be approached with great responsibility. The ease of use and maintenance will depend on the reliability and quality of the cabinet. Having made the right choice, the owner will not have to think about repairing recently purchased furniture or about the upcoming costs for another model for storing wardrobe.

Peculiarities

Manufacturers produce many models of wardrobes for storing clothes. They have various design features.

The cabinet can be:

  • Direct. It is a stand-alone product that can be installed along a wall in any room. Usually, such furniture is large. This is one of the first models to hit the market.
  • Linear. Such a piece of furniture is built into a special niche. Also, with its help, zoning of space is often performed. The model is convenient for storing things in small rooms or with a non-standard layout.
  • Built-in. To mount such a model, you will need a base (part of the wall, floor and ceiling surface). The overwhelming majority of such products are made to order. Depending on the configuration of the base, only the front part is produced (in some situations, the end walls are additionally manufactured).
  • Corner. A model that has gained popularity among the owners of small rooms. Due to the angular design feature, such a cabinet saves space. Most often, corner cabinets are equipped with swing doors.

All manufacturers offer customers a large selection of furniture models for storing clothes. Thanks to this, everyone will be able to choose the optimal product for themselves, not only in terms of design features, but also in design, size, color, material of manufacture and other indicators.

Wardrobes are triangular, trapezoidal, pentagonal, radius, rectangular. Also, manufacturers produce Tiffany furniture (modular systems). Cabinets, depending on the model, can be equipped with different types of doors: swing, accordion or compartment.

The last two options are the best solution for installation in small spaces.

Swing doors are renowned for their durability, which is achieved due to the simplicity of the mechanism.

Hallway cabinets are often equipped with legs or wheels. There are also products on sale without them.

Furniture on wheels or on legs is considered comfortable. If necessary, it can easily be moved from one place to another, which facilitates not only operation, but also cleaning the premises.

Many hallway models are complemented by a large number of drawers. They are convenient for storing small wardrobe items (scarves, hats, gloves, mittens), umbrellas and shoe care products (brushes, sticky rollers, cream and shoe sprays).

Manufacturers often produce multifunctional wardrobes for a room. They equip products with additional shelves for bags or cosmetics.

In addition, the following products are presented on the market:

  • with roller shutters;
  • retractable;
  • swivel.

Depending on your personal preference, you can choose between classic and modern wardrobes, as well as semi-antique options.

The assortment of most furniture manufacturing factories includes wardrobes for the nursery. They can be made in the form of a house, nesting dolls.Usually these are products of light shades with bright inserts or photo printing with cartoon characters or animals.

A distinctive feature of children's wardrobes is their small size, which makes the furniture convenient for a child to use.

Models

Clothes storage cabinets are presented with the following modules:

  • with boxes;
  • with a chest of drawers;
  • with a curbstone.
  • with open niches.

Such additional elements make furniture more functional. Drawer, chest of drawers, curbstone or open shelves - additional storage space for various little things. Thanks to such models, it is easier to maintain order in the room.

By the way, most modern manufacturers focus on the versatility and ease of use of cabinets, so all that remains is to choose the model you like.

Manufacturers also produce wardrobes. It can be a one-, two-, three- or four-door product with or without a mezzanine. Some models are available only with a bar that allows for vertical storage of clothes (on hangers), others are complemented by horizontal systems (shelves, drawers).

Depending on the size of the room, you can choose furniture with the optimal height, width and depth.

A low cabinet is suitable for a room with low ceilings or a nursery. Such models will not weigh down the space and visually clutter it. The advantage of small in height cabinets is ease of use for people of small and medium height, so in order to reach the upper shelves, there is no need to stand on a ladder or chair.

Materials (edit)

Wardrobes are made from various materials. This could be:

  • solid wood;
  • MDF;
  • Chipboard made of plywood;
  • rattan;
  • steel or aluminum.

The most expensive cabinets are made from expensive tree species... Natural wood furniture looks expensive and chic. In addition to high aesthetic qualities, another advantage of such a piece of furniture is durability.

Wardrobes made of solid wood are capable of retaining their visual appeal for decades. In addition, they are absolutely safe for humans and animals, as they do not emit toxic substances.

Furniture from chipboard and MDF much cheaper than natural wood products. These materials are produced by drying and then hot pressing wood chips and fibers. Chipboard and MDF cabinets are distinguished by a favorable price, environmental safety, and ease of maintenance.

However, if the outer coating is damaged, such furniture can emit hazardous volatile substances that negatively affect human health.

Exquisite furniture includes products rattan (dried stems of a tropical palm tree). Such cabinets, along with wooden ones, are classified as premium products. Those who want to save money can take a closer look at artificial rattan furniture. Outwardly, it does not differ from the "natural" analogue, but it costs several times cheaper. Artificial rattan furniture, thanks to modern technology, has high strength and durability.

Cabinets made of steel and aluminum - the most durable products. However, such options are rarely purchased for living quarters, as they look too ascetic, which will not add comfort to the home environment. Basically, they are installed in offices. Such furniture is able to withstand heavy mechanical loads, impacts, falls. Differs in a long service life.

Colors

As for the colors, here the imagination is limitless. Manufacturers produce cabinets in different color variations: from light to dark tones. Cabinet furniture is black, blue, green, yellow, red, beige, white.

However, the most popular colors are natural. When choosing the colors of future furniture, it is worth remembering that dark shades have the ability to absorb natural sunlight, and whites, on the contrary, enhance it.

Based on this feature, for the improvement of darkened rooms, it is best to take a closer look at cabinets with a white, milky or beige tint. For a room located on the sunny side, you can pick up dark models (wenge, cedar, zebrano, Italian walnut).

The general interior of the room and the style of its design must be taken into account. For modern bright styles (fusion, pop art), original cabinets of non-trivial colors (purple, yellow, light green, blue, etc.) are suitable. For an interior made in a loft or minimalist style, monochrome shades or a combination of them are perfect.

Dimensions (edit)

Wardrobes in bedrooms for storing clothes are usually standard sizes. The width of the cabinet depends on the number of doors. For products with 2 doors, the dimensions usually range from 100 to 150 cm, with three - from 150 to 130. The depth of standard shelves is 60 cm.

These are the optimal sizes to accommodate both lightweight and bulky winter clothing.

There is also furniture with a depth of 45 cm. In "smaller" products, the hanger bar is located perpendicularly (that is, things will hang "facing" the doors, and not sideways). This is not always convenient. Usually, such models are bought for installation in narrow corridors or hallways. The standard height of serial wardrobes is in the range of 220-240 cm (to the ceiling).

Some companies make custom-made cabinet cabinets. In this case, the products are created on the basis of accurate measurements of the client's room. In such a situation, the dimensions of the cabinet will differ from the standard ones, but the difference will not be very significant.

Internal filling

The filling of the cabinet, depending on the model, includes:

  • One or more rods. Products with barbells are easy to use. They can be used to hang dresses and outerwear on hangers. Some models have a bar for skirts, blouses or jackets. Some cabinets (usually tall) are made with a pantograph. This is a special mechanism that allows you to lower the bar to the optimal level for the user.
  • Stationary or pull-out shelves. Their depth directly depends on the depth of the furniture (sizes range from 45 to 90 cm). Products with stationary shelves are convenient and affordable. Deep cabinets are most often equipped with pull-out elements. Shelves of this type will make it easier to find the right clothes and clean the dressing room.
  • Drawers. They are indispensable for storing underwear, socks, various clothing accessories or jewelry.
  • Baskets. Cabinets with pull-out baskets are equipped with a roller mechanism. They are designed for storing woolen items and products that do not require ironing. Typically, these baskets have a mesh base made of plastic or metal. They are easy to mix with perfume for linen.
  • Hangers. Wardrobes with hangers allow you to correctly place trousers and jeans.
  • Shelves for storing shoes. Most often they are located at the bottom of the cabinet. There are inclined or retractable type.

The interior of the cabinet is selected individually, taking into account the purpose of the cabinet (entrance hall, bedroom, nursery, living room), the required volume (how many things are supposed to be stored), as well as the buyer's preferences regarding the convenience of using the furniture. Some people find it inconvenient to put clothes in dressers, while others, on the contrary, hang them on hangers and store them in covers, so the inner filling of the cabinet is a very important indicator after the appearance and material of manufacture.

How to choose?

Before buying a cabinet, in order not to make a mistake with the choice, you need to follow these recommendations:

  1. Decide in advance on the purpose and dimensions of the cabinet. To do this, measure the space that will be allocated for the purchased furniture. Be sure to take the diagram with you to the store. It is also better to decide in advance on the color scheme and style of the future cabinet.
  2. Internal filling. Think about how things will be located in the closet, whether there is a need for a large number of shelves, or is it better to look at models with a barbell and drawers. If the choice is difficult, then it is better to give preference to multifunctional models that combine several popular storage systems.
  3. Manufacturing material. The choice of cabinet design option depends primarily on the buyer's budget, as well as on wishes. If environmental safety and a classic appearance are important, then it is better to give preference to wooden furniture. However, it is expensive, and therefore cabinets made of more budgetary materials (laminated chipboard, MDF) successfully compete with it.

Also pay attention to the manufacturer. If furniture for storing things is not bought for a year or two, then it makes sense to look at factories that have already made a name for themselves. Usually they value their reputation and customers, therefore they offer a mandatory guarantee, certificates, and furniture is made of quality materials and reliable components. Promotions and discounts held in furniture stores will significantly save money, while not prejudice to the quality of the purchased cabinet.

Fittings

High-quality components can transform furniture not only externally, but also simplify its operation.

Modern cabinet models can be equipped with:

  • closers;
  • furniture locks;
  • roller shutters;
  • handles;
  • holders.

Furniture doors with closers allow you to open the door effortlessly and easily close it. It is especially valuable that the structure in the open state does not require holding by hand, that is, it can be used without unnecessary effort. Usually, closers are equipped with furniture of the middle and premium segment.

Doors with locks are especially relevant in office premises and in apartments with small children. Thanks to the key, the cabinet is securely locked, and its contents remain inaccessible. A cabinet with locks usually comes with several locking elements.

Furniture equipped with roller shutters is compact in size and saves space in the room due to the lack of standard doors. The guides can, depending on the model, be installed both outside and inside the furniture. The filling of the cabinet can be anything.

Furniture handles are made of various materials: steel, bronze, copper, chrome, aluminum, plastic with and without dusting, wood. The variety of colors, shapes and types of these accessories makes it easy to choose the right model. In some wardrobes, it is the handles that are the most important design detail.

Furniture with holders is widely represented both in furniture stores and in individual production workshops. Usually, these fittings are complemented by the internal filling of wardrobes.

Pay attention to the quality of the accessories. For the durability of the structure, you should make a choice in favor of metal, abandoning plastic.

Design

Unusual wardrobes can bring a unique and inimitable style to the interior of the room. Such models can be found in furniture stores, as well as in design studios and showrooms. Furniture for storing things can be backlit, painted, mirrors and other bright elements. Design solutions in a modern interior involve bold solutions and a combination of seemingly incongruous styles and materials.

A special place is occupied by cabinets, complemented by roll-out doors with photo printing. Thanks to modern technology, any drawing or photograph can be applied to the surface. The image quality is very high.

The combination of bright colors and monochrome looks original. Colored elements are able to emphasize the unusual shape of the furniture, as well as to place light accents in the room.

Furniture design should be in harmony with the general interior of the hall. It is advisable not to combine more than 4 colors and their shades in one room.Otherwise, the room will be overloaded and it will be difficult to stay in it for a long time.

Where to put: options in the interior

Installing a storage cabinet is a critical step. It is necessary to think in advance about the layout and the place for which the furniture is purchased. The variety of models allows you to choose an interesting location for them, for example, under the stairs.

The cupboard installed in this way allows maximum use of the space under the stairs.

In a private house, you can install the following models that will look fresh and original.

The cabinet installed in a niche looks interesting.

Monochrome models with stickers allow you to change the appearance of the cabinet as often as you like.

A wardrobe is a necessary piece of furniture that can facilitate and simplify the task of storing clothes and other items. Modern models are varied in color, material, multifunctional, which makes it easy to choose a comfortable wardrobe for any room and for any purpose.
