Against the background of tall conifers and ornamental shrubs like barberry, a rose of the Blue Perfume variety will look gorgeous. And recently, this flower has been actively used as a planting along the fence, which is entwined with clematis.

Breeding history of the variety

The Blue Perfume variety was bred in the German nursery Tantau in the late 70s of the last century. By the way, it functions now, breeders trust him and are happy to use his services. Blue Perfume (the variety is also called Blue Parfume, TANfifum, TANifume, as well as TANtifum, Violette Parfum) is a blue rose, a color impossible in the natural environment was obtained by breeders. The fact is that the delphinidin gene, which is responsible for the blue color, is not found in roses in principle. Therefore, only a long breeding path helped German specialists to achieve a gentle and romantic shade. For 10 years, they went to obtain an exclusive color, and came up with the idea of introducing the viola gene into the rose genotype, which happened. True, behind the external showiness is still not very ideal immunity.

Description of the variety

The plant belongs to the group of hybrid tea, intended for growing for cutting, it is found both in single and in group plantings. True, in some places you can see complaints about the size of plants: the stem is not very high, it is not ideal for cutting. But this is a subjective view.

Can be grown in flower beds and containers. The flower is colored purple-lavender, a rather complex color. But when it blooms, it brightens. The inside of the bud remains lilac. The blue and blue rose is called conditionally: many photos in the catalog are processed in photo editors, therefore they do not show the original color.

The bud has an elongated shape, the flower is goblet, large in size, the diameter of the petals can reach 11 cm. There are 45 petals in the Blue Perfume rose, one, two or three flowers can grow on the stem. The aroma of a berry variety, in a heady aromatic composition, strawberry and raspberry notes are guessed. The bush is compact, the rose does not grow above 70 cm, it is up to 60 cm wide. It is a strongly leafy plant with dark green leaves.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main plus is a bright, complex shade, that is, the decorativeness of the plant in the foreground. The variety is resistant to severe frosts, which makes it attractive for cultivation in Russia and regions with not the mildest climate. Not the most demanding plant with an unusual aroma that can compete in showiness with color.

But the variety does not possess persistent immunity, cultivation requires strength and observation of the plant, especially in wet and rainy weather, which the Blue Perfume rose does not tolerate. If the rains are frequent, there is a high probability that the bud will not open, it will rot. This means that the variety is demanding for watering, the plant can only be watered at the root.

Flowering features

The rose blooms from June to October, refers to the re-flowering. Flowering will be profuse, lasting until the very frost. But so that rotting does not happen ahead of time (due to the same rains), you can make a shelter for bushes in unfavorable periods - even an ordinary umbrella saves.

Blooming roses look unusually elegant, an elegant wave will go along the edge of the petals, sometimes they look torn, but this is only for the benefit of the decorativeness of the plant. One wave of flowering usually lasts 3 weeks or a little more, and then until the very end of summer, the roses will appear separately. And if August turns out to be warm, there will be a second wave in September. Some growers complain that they did not wait for the second wave of flowering, complain about defective planting material. But, most likely, the matter is in non-optimal weather conditions.

Landing

Hybrid tea roses are best propagated by cuttings, and Blue Perfume is no exception. Doing this is at the finish line of the first wave of flowering. A cut is the central part of an annual stem, which has a length of up to 15 cm. The upper cut will be horizontal, the lower one is made at an angle of 45 degrees. From the lower third of the cutting, the leaves are completely cut off, the remaining ones are shortened by two-thirds. An oblique cut is sprinkled with a root formation stimulant.

Cuttings are planted at an angle of 60 degrees in a mixture of perlite, sand or coconut fiber with peat chips. Planting depth - 2 cm or a little more. From above, the flower needs to be covered to create a greenhouse. The rose will grow roots in 3-4 weeks. If the climate is warm, the plant will go to open ground in the fall, but if there is no heat, it is better to wait for spring. The flower will grow well in partial shade in black soil or acidic soil.

Growing and care

You can't call the variety a particularly capricious one, but you can't leave a rose completely unattended. In the first season, both after planting and during budding, the flower must be watered every 2-3 days. All other times - once a week. The soil should have time to dry out 5 cm inward. It is necessary to water the flower strictly at the root with soft and not cold water. It is worth feeding Blue Perfume 4 times per season: at the start of the active growing season - with organic matter (compost or humus), during the budding period and until the very end of the first wave of flowering - with complex dressings. At the end of the first autumn month - potassium and phosphorus.

Pruning

It is not necessary to forcibly form a bush, but sanitization is required. Until the active movement of juices begins, it is necessary to get rid of broken and frozen shoots. In the fall, when the rose goes to bed, the faded buds are cut off with a sterile tool, just as dried shoots and shoots damaged by the pest and diseases are removed.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

The rose tolerates winter well, but if frosts promise strong (from -25), it will be necessary to organize a shelter for it. Sometimes flower growers simply add humus to the base of the bush, forming a not very high, 20 centimeters, mound. Fallen leaves or spruce branches are laid on top of the mound. The branches of the bush must be tied up, covered with a special cover, a cardboard box or a material that does not allow air to pass through, in a couple of layers.

Diseases and pests

There is good news - this variety is not afraid of especially dangerous diseases. Therefore, regular prevention of pest attacks by Blue Perfume is simply not needed. True, if the weather is rainy and it can drag on, you need to spray the soil under the bush with a fungicide solution, and do this twice a month. Spider mites and leaf rollers are not interested in these flowers, but aphids are not so picky, and can attack a rose. More often it can be seen on the tops of the shoots, on the buds and blossoming leaves - it sucks the juice from the flower, leading to the drying of the affected tissues.

By the way, aphids are often attracted by viburnum, mulberry, nasturtium and petunia planted next to the rose. It is not necessary for a rose of this variety to coexist with them. This will be the best prevention of aphid attacks. And also it can be sprayed with foam of ordinary laundry soap, wood ash infusion or soda solution.

Even in its "circle" of hybrid tea varieties, Blue Perfume is clearly distinguished by its delicate picturesque color. And petals with characteristic dangling edges only emphasize the originality of the plant and motivate flower growers to choose this variety among many others.
