Of the floribunda roses of English selection, the Blue Fo Yu variety stands out (the variety has a large synonymous row - Blue for You, PEJamblu, Pacific Dream, Pejamblu, as well as Honky Tonk Blues and Ellerines Rose). It is an elegant purple flower with an intense fruity aroma.

Description of the variety

For its removal, one should thank the Briton Peter James, he managed to bring out the rare beauty of the rose in 2006. He was able to get a purple fragrant flower by crossing Natural Beauty and a mixture of pollen (Summer Wine x SCRIVbell). And as a result, I got a rose suitable for cutting and for growing as a standard form, for single and group plantings, for flower bed plantings.

The bud is purple with a pinkish tinge, the flower itself is purple to blue with expressive white strokes. The color is bright and rich. The bud has a pointed shape, the flower is cupped, medium in size, reaching 8 cm in diameter. By the number of petals it is considered semi-double, there are 15-18 petals in it, the flowers are located in inflorescences. One stem can have from 3 to 7 flowers.

The bush of this variety is vigorous, the height of the bush can be one meter (but more often 80-90 cm). The leaves are green, medium in size, with thorns on the stem. You need to grow a Blue Fo Yu rose in a place protected from cold winds. It is a fairly disease resistant variety, but it is also fearful of rain and demonstrates the need for shelter. But he is calm in relation to heat and frost.

Advantages and disadvantages

The main advantages are the rare color of the flower, the charm and sophistication of the plant, which in any well-groomed landscape design will look appropriate and convincing. It blooms profusely, which is also a plus, the growth of the bush is assessed as good. And in general, the variety is unpretentious, which allows even novice flower growers to grow it. Among the disadvantages are poor resistance to rain, and careful choice of location. But all these moments are solvable, and the pluses of the variety clearly prevail over the minuses.

Flowering features

Abundant flowering makes this variety very competitive, and the flowering process is also long, because Blue Fo Yu can definitely solo on the site. The flowering period begins in June and lasts until September. It is a re-flowering cultivar with a slow bud opening. The bud opens up with the most delicate light blue-lilac petals with a lilac tint, while the base of the petals is white.

It is noteworthy that the rose of this variety does not bloom for a long time, it is for the duration of its stay in the shape of a bud that many growers love it. And thanks to the folded petals, you can appreciate how elegant the shape of the plant is. The flowers are semi-double. The aroma of roses is strong, expressively fruity, but at the same time completely unobtrusive.

Use in landscape design

If you want to focus on the plant, it is better to limit yourself to single plantings. But a rose will look good in a rose garden if it is replete with a palette of gentle, romantic accents. On a flowerbed near the house itself, it is very English-style, fresh and cozy. The variety allows you to create original flower arrangements that will emphasize the landscape pattern, create a living plant ornament. It is believed that this variety demonstrates the best combination with hybrid tea roses.

Landing

You need to plant a rose in the shade or partial shade, because the bright sun will simply burn the plant. The flower will not tolerate drafts either. Do not plant it in low swampy places. A hole for planting is dug in advance so that the soil has time to settle. If it is decided to plant several bushes at once, the interval between them should be half a meter.

The size of the pit should initially exceed the size of the root system. The depth of the pit is usually 60 cm. The bottom is drained, and then two-thirds filled with sod soil, urea and ash mixed with sand. At the seedling, you need to carefully spread the root system, put it in the center and sprinkle it with earth. In the near-trunk circle, tamp the soil, then it is good to shed the earth.

A rose is planted in a permanent place in the spring, while the soil should warm up confidently to +12. If frost returns, the flower should be covered with a non-woven material. It is better to plant the plant in the evening, but in cloudy weather it is possible during the day. And for a couple of days the flower needs to be covered with something to avoid burns. By the way, a rose of this variety planted on loam can lose color.

Growing and care

When growing Blue Fo Yu, it must be borne in mind that this culture does not tolerate high humidity, and therefore it is watered once a week. And it is better if watering is combined with fertilizing, mines or organics are used. But if the bush has just been planted, it does not need top dressing (usually fertilizers are applied during planting, because excessiveness will result in an excess of nutrition that is dangerous for the plant). In the future, fertilizers with nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium can be applied under the bush.

Pruning

It is necessary to maintain the shape of the bush - cut and shape its crown. In early spring, sanitary pruning is carried out, during which all damaged shoots are removed. But the formative pruning should be done to remove the branches that grow inward. Then the shape of the crown will be neat. In the fall, the plant must be pruned, leaving a maximum of 30 cm of shoot. And so that bacteria do not "come running" to the place of the cut, it is treated with garden varnish.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

Then, when it is already closer to winter, it is better to mulch the trunk circle and cover it with spruce branches. The plant is considered frost-resistant, able to withstand temperatures as low as -20. If a rose is grown in areas that are difficult in terms of climate, for example, in Siberia, before the cold snap, a box is additionally installed on the flower and covered with something non-woven. And in winter, snow is poured next to the rose to warm the plant.

Diseases and pests

This variety shows high resistance to diseases and pests. It is resistant to powdery mildew, rust and black spot - the main ailments of roses. But caterpillars and aphids may well attack the plant. It is necessary to use high-quality insecticides or analog folk remedies, without waiting for the growth of the scale of the lesion. And it is better to carry out processing three times - in the spring, after flowering and on the eve of wintering. And if you plant fragrant herbs next to a rose, it is highly likely that the pests will not stick to the rose at all.

Reproduction

Planting material can be expensive, so it is worth considering growing seedlings at home. You can do this by cutting and dividing the bush. The stalk should be about 10 cm (no longer needed), and there are 3 living buds on it. A piece of an already lignified shoot should be cut off from the mother bush. This is planted in pots with nutritious soil, regular watering is established and the roots are waiting for the formation of roots, which will take about a month. When several branches appear on the handle, you can plant it in the ground.

The division method works like this: a mother bush is taken not older than 4 years, the dug out plant is divided into parts with a sterile tool (each with a root).A separated plant is planted either in early spring, or a month before autumn frosts. Such bushes, by the way, will bloom earlier than cuttings.
