Rose Bella Vita is loved by many gardeners not only for its incredibly beautiful and large flowers. This variety is frost-resistant, not afraid of sudden changes in temperature. And therefore, it is ideal not only for warm southern regions, but also for the weather conditions of central Russia. Today it is one of the most famous hybrid tea varieties.

Breeding history of the variety

The rose was released at the beginning of the new millennium, in 2000. It was bred by the Dutch breeder Lex Wum. Bella Vita is the result of the splicing of a Dolce Vita rose and a seedling of an unknown variety. This fact explains the beauty of the flowers: they are not uniformly colored, they are two-colored.

Description of the variety

Bush variety. It is a low shrub up to 1 meter high, up to 80 cm wide. Stems are erect, forming a branchy dense crown upward. Branches with many side shoots.

The type of root system is pivotal. The roots of old plants grow strongly, branch, lie in the ground to a great depth, up to 0.5 m.

The stems of the plant are light green, there are few thorns. Leaves are oval, dark green, dense, not shiny, without chipping, in the middle with thin yellowish veins. The leaves do not turn yellow and do not fall off for a long time, before the onset of frost.

The buds are pink-white, bowl-shaped, rather large, 10-12 cm in diameter, but can grow up to 13-14 cm. The petals are fluffy, medium-double. There is usually one flower on one branch, so the plant never sags under the weight of flowers during flowering. Sometimes there are 3-5 flowers on one branch, but the stems are strong, they can cope with such a load.

The scent of the rose is very pleasant, but weak. It can only be felt next to a bush, the smell does not spread far.

Advantages and disadvantages

The variety has many advantages, as it has won various awards at exhibitions. These include such properties.

  • Frost resistance. The rose is not afraid of frost, therefore it can withstand very low temperatures, up to -23 degrees Celsius.

  • The small size of the bush.

  • Simple care that does not require any special knowledge and skills.

  • Does not attract pests and diseases.

  • The beauty of flowers.

There are few disadvantages of the variety, they are not too significant.

  • It does not tolerate dry air and earth, therefore, it needs frequent watering, especially in summer.

  • Does not like shade; for good flowering, the rose needs sunlight.

The plant is considered unpretentious, therefore it is often used not only for home, but also for open ground.

Flowering features

The plant is perennial, therefore it blooms every year. Flowering period: mid June to late October. The buds appear in May, when the weather is warm. The rose can bloom in two stages: in June to mid-August, then, when the buds fall, again, from August to the onset of the autumn cold.

Use in landscape design

The queen of flowers is capricious and cannot stand any kind of neighborhood. This has always been considered, and experienced florists advise adhering to the same rule for this variety.Planting a Bella Vita rose with other roses is not recommended, otherwise it will simply get lost in the flowerbed next to the brighter neighbors of the red-orange range.

Ideal: green neighbors such as conifers or similarly undersized shrubs. The rose must be planted in the foreground, otherwise it will simply not be visible. The variety looks good both in pots and in pots on the balcony or at home.

The Bella Vita variety will delight the eye for a long time if you follow all the necessary planting and care recommendations.

Landing

The plant is planted in autumn or spring, when the snow cover melts completely. They are preparing for planting in advance, the site must be dug up and fertilized. The soil for planting should not be dense, but loose, soft.

First, you need to dig a hole 60-70 cm deep. It is not worth less, as the roots may not fit. It is also not necessary deeper, since groundwater can harm a young plant. Further into the pit, place a drainage layer 20-30 cm thick, sprinkle it with earth. Then place the seedling in the hole, straighten the roots so that they lie freely. Then sprinkle with earth and tamp so that the seedling stands level, does not fall or bend over, water. The plant does not need to be planted in shaded areas where there is little sunlight, otherwise the rose will bloom poorly.

Growing and care

The variety needs abundant watering so that the bush is not in dry ground. In spring and autumn, the rose is watered once a week, in summer - every 2-3 days.

The rose must be properly fed. In the spring, she needs nitrogen-containing fertilizers, as they contribute to the growth and strengthening of the plant. During the formation of buds, for abundant flowering, it is necessary to fertilize with potassium-phosphorus compounds. The last top dressing happens in the fall, so that the bush will successfully overwinter.

From spring to autumn, the soil around the plant must be loosened. This is done 1-2 times a month, the depth of loosening is 8-10 cm. This is how the plant breathes, air enters the roots.

Pruning of branches is necessary 2 times a year: in spring and autumn. In the spring, this way they stimulate the emergence of new shoots, since the old coarse wood is cut off. In the fall, old leaves and buds are removed by pruning.

Diseases and pests

The variety is resistant to diseases and pests. Usually, the rose is not disturbed by all sorts of misfortunes, if you follow the planting rules and provide proper care in a timely manner. But the signs of the disease can be recognized immediately, and save the bush from death.

  • Black spot. Dark spots appear on the outside of the leaves. This fungal disease occurs when a plant is planted in soil with stagnant water. In this case, the bush must be cut off and sprayed with preparations containing copper. Dig up the rose and transplant to a drier place.

  • Aphid. White bloom appears on leaves and shoots. They get rid of this pest with the help of "Lepidocide".

  • Thrips. Yellow spots appear on the petals, the buds wither and fall off. The drug "Aktara" will help here.

  • The spider mite betrays its presence in the form of a cobweb on the leaves. The plant turns yellow. The drug "Fufanon" helps against the tick.

Now the industry produces many different kinds of drugs for pests and diseases. The main thing is to observe the dosage of the agent, which is indicated in the instructions for use or on the bottle.
