Rose Baron Edmond de Rothschild has other names - MEIgriso, Baronne E. De Rothschild, Baronne De Rothschild. This tea hybrid has existed for more than a dozen years and has managed to gain the love and respect of gardeners. The rose is chosen for its attractive appearance and exquisite scent.

Breeding history of the variety

The variety in question originated in 1968 in France thanks to the breeders of the Meilland company. Immediately after hatching, the flower was awarded two gold medals in competitions in Italy, silver medals in Switzerland and Belgium. Later, the rose received the Teodolinda crown award, Valbypark certificate, the title of the most fragrant among roses, the ADR quality mark.

Description of the variety

Baron Edmond de Rothschild is a neat shrub with large light thorns and large, shiny, rich green leaves. It rises 110 centimeters above the ground, and reaches 50-90 centimeters in width. On long, strong stems, one goblet, voluminous flower with a diameter of 10-11 centimeters is formed. Roses are densely double, each has 45-52 petals, buds are usually elongated. The color of the flower is bright, two-tone: outside it is purple-crimson, inside the tone is light, crimson-pink. The plant exudes an alluring aroma reminiscent of the consonance of chocolate with vanilla and cinnamon.

Advantages and disadvantages

Speaking about the advantages of this hybrid, they focus on the beauty of the plant, its bright voluminous flowers can transform even a modest garden. Another plus is that you can admire the rose all summer long. Well, you can't ignore the persistent fragrant aroma. But the variety also has disadvantages - it can hardly withstand drought and is very prickly.

The variety is characterized by long, abundant flowering, the buds bloom for a long time. The rose can bloom again.

Use in landscape design

The described variety goes well with other types of plants in mixborders, looks great in a single version or as a standard form, suitable for flower bed compositions, transforming gazebos, hedges, curbs and arches.

Baron Edmond de Rothschild is adapted to cultivation in the Central, North-West and other regions of Russia.

Landing

Planting a flower is allowed twice per season: from the second decade of April to the end of May and from the end of September to mid-October.

Before planting, they dig a hole about 50 centimeters deep. The bottom is lined with drainage material, after which a layer of garden soil mixed with humus, peat and sand is laid. The young plant is covered with earth and moistened with heated water.

Growing and care

The hybrid in question loves light, therefore, for its cultivation, a site open to sunlight is provided, or they try to provide an openwork partial shade. In addition, the place should be located on a hill and be sheltered from drafts. The rosette is picky in terms of soil, it needs a light, fertile, loose, moisture-absorbing soil with weak acidity.

The culture requires systematic watering, this procedure should be carried out about a couple of times a week. In the spring, you can pamper the hybrid with nitrogenous feeding, in the summer, introduce a potassium-phosphorus complex, and do not forget about organic matter.

In the spring, excess shoots are removed from the plant, in the fall, the stems of the shrub are cut off.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

Baron Edmond de Rothschild has good winter hardiness, withstands temperatures up to -23 degrees. To help the flower survive the frosts, in the fall, gardeners carry out pruning, stop fertilizing and irrigation, and build a shelter for the rose.

Diseases and pests

With proper care, the flower does not often suffer from ailments. Shows medium resistance to attacks of black spot and powdery mildew, can be affected by ticks, aphids, caterpillars, beetles, rust. For treatment, the culture is sprayed with Bordeaux liquid, sulfur, "Mospilan" and other drugs.

Reproduction

For propagation of this type of roses, the grafting method is used. It is advisable to root the stalk of a newly opened rose. It is advised to separate the shoot for grafting in the morning, when the plant is saturated with moisture.
