  2. Delicate delicious coloring.

  3. The flowers are large.

  4. Dense petals, not afraid of rain and heat.

  5. The flower ages beautifully, stays on the bushes for a long time, due to which the flowering seems to be very long.

  2. Barely noticeable aroma.

Among the disadvantages of the variety, susceptibility to disease is sometimes mentioned, but this quality depends on the care.

Flowering features

The flowering is very abundant. Each branch has 1 flower, but they look huge. The rose belongs to the re-flowering, with good nutrition, the pause between the waves will be almost imperceptible. Flowering period: June-October.

Use in landscape design

Hybrid tea roses have no limits. They look best in representative, open places. Lawns, flowerbeds in front of the house, paths, inserts into lawns, places near gazebos, benches and fountains. Rosa Barbados is quite compact and persistent, while with huge, hardy flowers, it can be taken to any foreground and not be afraid that the flowers spotted from the rain will spoil the view. She is equally good in groups and solo.

Landing

For a rose, choose a sunny, well-protected place from drafts. The soil should be loose, breathable, well-drying, moisture-absorbing and fertile at the same time. In too sandy soils, roses can suffer from malnutrition, but this issue is easily resolved with top dressing. But the sand heats up quickly and easily, providing comfort to the roots. Therefore, in cold regions, where there are often damp summers, it is better to choose places with sandy soil. Acidic soils necessarily deacidify, introducing dolomite flour, chalk, sand,

Growing and care

Rose Barbados is relatively unpretentious, but like other roses, it needs watering as needed, weed removal, and top dressing.

Water it abundantly, on very dry days it is possible over the foliage, but without touching the buds. However, it is better to make irrigation grooves. The frequency and volume of irrigation changes, at the beginning of summer - the maximum, by August watering is reduced.

They are fed regularly, at least 3-4 times per season. A mullein solution is well suited: 1 part to 10 parts of water, pour 1 liter per bush.

To stimulate growth, they are fed with a yeast solution: 100 g of fresh yeast, 2 tbsp. l. sugar, 1 liter of warm water, wait for fermentation. Before watering, dilute the infusion with another 5 liters of clean water.

An approximate scheme of dressings for a rose.

  1. April.Industrial ready-made nitrogenous fertilizers, or ammonium nitrate (30 g per 1 sq. M), or a solution of mullein, or poultry manure (it is prepared in the same way, only 2 times less manure is taken for the same volume). 1 liter per bush. Water the roses with warm water before adding.

  2. May. The bush grows even more intensively, nitrogen is still needed, as well as potassium and phosphorus. Add 3 liters of mullein solution, or 15 g of ammonium nitrate + 30 g of superphosphate + 15 potassium salt (mixture per 1 sq. M).

  3. The beginning of June. Buds are formed. During this period, calcium and potassium are very important. The composition of the mixture per 1 sq. m - 20 g of ammonium nitrate + 40 g of superphosphate + 15 potassium magnesium. The mixture can be replaced with 3 liters of mullein solution, or by spraying with a solution of wood ash.

  4. July. The first wave fades, the plant prepares for the second. Nitrogen is no longer needed, but the rose consumes a lot of potassium and phosphorus. A mixture of 50 g of superphosphate and 20 g of potassium salt per 1 sq. m.

  5. In August, it is important to support the plant, but not to provoke the growth of green mass. The trunks are dug up with rotted manure, or with a mixture of minerals - 20 g of potassium salt + 40 g of potassium magnesium + 50 g of superphosphate.

During flowering, roses are not fed, you need to choose intermediate periods.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

The variety belongs to the 6th zone of frost resistance. Such varieties in the middle lane must be covered for the winter. The branches, if they are flexible enough, are bent to the ground. Then they are covered with mulch or covered with lutrasil. If the branches are hard, they are loosely tied and wrapped in several layers of lutrasil, a layer of peat or fresh sawdust 20 cm is poured around the bush, or covered with spruce branches, and then sprinkled.

Young plants in cold regions winter better in huts. The simplest cone made of hammered boards or rais is covered with a film or lutrasil. Periodically, such huts need to be ventilated.

Before sending for the winter, remove all leaves, unripe shoots, cut off the remaining ones up to 40 cm, and treat with antifungal drugs.

Diseases and pests

In the difficult climates of the Russian Federation, even hardy roses can suffer from black spot and powdery mildew. A number of measures will help to avoid diseases.

  1. Very thorough cleaning of the site, removing all weeds, any damaged stems, fruits, flowers, leaves.

  2. Periodic soil spillage with "Fitosporin".

  3. High-quality agricultural technology, moisture-light-fertilizing balance.

  4. Adequate food, but no overfeeding.

  5. The right choice of location.

  6. Regular sanitary pruning of roses.

It is useful to spray roses with ash infusion, dust the stems and leaves.

Review overview

The rose is gorgeous, flower growers like it very much. This is not just a beautiful variety that attracts attention in the photo. This is a plant that shows high business qualities, not just decorative ones. The flowers are really very large, with a beautiful twist of petals, stand out very well against the background of a small bush and medium-sized foliage. The color of the flowers is delicate, but they are persistent, they last for a long time. Long flowering, without a period of wilted flowers. The flowers do not seem to wither, but grow old. Many were struck by the incredible durability of the rose - pests are not interested in its strong leathery foliage, it willingly grows even in the heat. There are no remarks about winter hardiness, it winters very well.

Cons: the flowers may fade a little in the bright sun. But this is not critical. Due to the initially delicate color, the flowers only acquire a more noble aged look. There are reviews that delicate twigs do not withstand the weight of the heads, they droop. For some flower growers, the rose is quite sick, but there are few such reviews.

Barbados is an excellent variety and should be considered by both experienced growers and beginners who are just trying to grow hybrid tea roses.
