Shrub roses, which bloom profusely and for a long time, look very aesthetically attractive on flower beds and in front gardens. One of the demanded and popular is the pink Baylando variety, which came to us from Germany. It is not difficult to grow bushes with beautiful flowers if you familiarize yourself with the intricacies of planting and further agricultural technology.

Breeding history of the variety

Rose Baylando, which represents the floribunda class, was bred by German breeders on the basis of the European Tantau nursery in 2008. Thanks to its good adaptation to different climatic conditions, the bush rose is grown in almost all regions of Russia. In addition, the German variety has gained popularity among gardeners in Ukraine and Belarus.

Description of the variety

The pink variety is a vigorous shrub with erect shoots. In a favorable environment, the rose bush grows to a height of 70-90 cm. The plant is characterized by good branching, strong shoots, abundant foliage, bright green elongated small leaves, as well as a developed rhizome that goes deep into the ground.

Distinctive features of the plant are the pronounced gloss of the foliage, their density, as well as a slight spike in the shoots, which facilitates the procedure of care and cutting. On each stem, 8-10 flowers are formed, collected in inflorescences. Due to the rapid growth of lateral shoots, the plant looks volumetric - the diameter is 60-70 cm.

Advantages and disadvantages

This pink variety is famous not only for its beauty, but also for many other advantages: frost resistance (the plant tolerates frosts down to -29 ... 23 degrees), a strong immune system that prevents the occurrence of fungal and other infections, abundant, continuous and long flowering (up to 5 months), good penumbra tolerance.

The disadvantages of the variety include weak resistance to rain, in which the buds may not bloom, the absence of a pronounced aroma and the formation of burns on the petals of roses growing under the scorching sun.

Flowering features

The German rose Bailando is famous for its abundant and long flowering. The period of active blooming lasts for 4-5 months - from June to October. Goblet buds, collected in multi-flowered inflorescences, are evenly colored pink. A full-blown double rose takes on a rosette or square shape, a dense structure consisting of 50-60 petals. A fully open flower does not look very voluminous - its diameter is 6-8 cm. The petals are thin, with a slight dullness and pronounced wavy edges. There is practically no bright aroma of roses, only light fruity notes are heard. Not only the abundant flowering and numerous roses on the bushes, but also their incredibly beautiful color - the pink tone is diluted with salmon tint attracts attention. Many gardeners and gardeners find the external resemblance of Baylando roses to pompom dahlias.

Use in landscape design

Shrub roses of irregular color are very popular in landscape design. The variety can be planted singly, in an ensemble with other flowers and plants. This flower can become the basis of a flower bed or front garden, as well as decorate a mixborder. In addition, the rose can be grown in containers as well as for cutting. Cut flowers can stand in a vase for a long time, retaining their freshness and external beauty.

Landing

Planting of a pink shrub is usually carried out in April-May, when the soil and air are sufficiently warmed up. It is possible to plant a rose in autumn only in the southern regions. Planting is carried out 3-4 weeks before stable frosts. Fertile, fluffy, air-permeable soils with a good drainage system are suitable for roses. It is worth noting that too acidic and waterlogged soil is not suitable for flowers. In addition, the occurrence of groundwater should be at least 100-150 cm, since the rhizomes of the plant go deep into the soil.

The site is selected leveled, weed-free and protected from drafts. It is recommended to choose a place where there is a lot of warmth and light. It is most comfortable for shrubs to grow in a flower bed, where it is sunny in the morning and evening, and shade at lunchtime. Under the constant sun, roses quickly fade and burn. You cannot plan to plant rose bushes in lowlands where water and cold air accumulate.

Growing and care

To grow beautiful rose bushes, you need to prepare or buy healthy seedlings, as well as prepare pits 50-60 cm deep.In each hole, a drainage of crushed stone or gravel is laid, as well as a layer (8-10 cm) consisting of fertilizers and garden soil. Before planting, the rhizomes are treated with a growth stimulant. After planting, watering is carried out with warm water and the soil is compacted. When planning a flower bed, it is recommended to adhere to the density of the placement of plants - from 3 to 5 units per 1 m2.

The bushes do not require special care, it is enough to perform basic procedures: watering, fertilizing, loosening the soil after watering, weeding row spacings, sanitary pruning of bushes, mulching, preventive measures to prevent the occurrence of fungal infections. In addition, do not forget about the shelter for the winter.

Watering and feeding

Despite the fact that the variety is drought-resistant, it needs regular watering. On average, 15-20 liters of settled water are consumed per 1 bush. Under normal conditions, one watering per week is sufficient. During dry periods, 2 waterings are required.

Fertilizers are applied twice a season - nitrogen-containing complexes in spring, and phosphorus-potassium mixtures in summer. Top dressing stimulates the growth, development and abundant flowering of shrubs.

Pruning

Pruning is carried out regularly. Frozen branches are cut in the spring, and branches are shortened. In autumn, sanitary pruning is carried out, in which the bushes are thinned out, dry, damaged shoots are removed. During the flowering period, you need to remove all wilted buds.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

Roses growing in the central and northern parts of the country, where the winters are cold, sometimes with little snow, need shelter. Covering plantings after the onset of a stable temperature regime of -7 ... 8 degrees. The shrubs are preliminarily cut and tilted towards the soil. For insulation, a frame is installed on which the covering material and film are stretched. In early spring, mandatory daily ventilation is required, partially removing the shelter.

In the southern regions, mulching is quite good using spruce branches, which are laid between plantings, as well as on top of rose bushes.

Diseases and pests

The plant has a high immunity, so rose bushes are rarely exposed to fungal diseases. Roses have absolute resistance to powdery mildew and black spot. Pest attacks (spider mites, leaf rollers) are extremely rare. Rose bushes are ill only in conditions of high humidity and other unfavorable factors.

Reproduction

The Baylando rose is propagated by cuttings. You can prepare them yourself. Young and strong rose bushes are selected for harvesting. Cuttings are recommended to be selected after the first wave of flowering shrub.
