You can dilute a small flower bed by filling it with bright colors by planting roses of unusual colors. The Atlantik Star variety will be ideal, attracting attention with majestic flowers of unusually bright colors. It is not difficult to grow a plant if you familiarize yourself with the intricacies of planting and care.

Breeding history of the variety

Rosa Atlantic Star - a variety belonging to the floribunda group, bred in 1993 in the UK. Breeding work for this crop was carried out in the Fryer nursery. Thanks to its good adaptation to temperature extremes and cold, the rose bush can be grown in almost any region of Russia.

Description of the variety

The English rose is a vigorous plant that stretches up to 70-90 cm in height. The bush is characterized by strong erect stems, not very densely covered with sharp thorns, moderate foliage, large leathery leaves with a pronounced gloss and a developed rhizome. The diameter of the bush varies between 50-60 cm. A distinctive feature is the unusual color of the foliage - the dark green base is diluted with a bronze tint. On each stem, from 3 to 5 buds are formed and opened.

Advantages and disadvantages

The pink variety is characterized by many positive qualities - good frost resistance, tolerance to prolonged heat and rain, high immunity that protects against fungal infections, long and abundant flowering.

Along with its advantages, the variety is endowed with several disadvantages: medium intensity of aroma and some requirements for the structure of the soil.

Flowering features

Atlantic Star pleases with an abundant and long flowering period. The flower belongs to the re-flowering class. Flowers are formed in small-flowered inflorescences of 3-5 pieces each. Elegant goblet buds have a multicolor color - dark pink with deep orange.

During the flowering period, the bud opens into a moderately double flower, consisting of 20-25 petals. The size of the flower is rather large - its diameter is 8-10 cm. The blossoming cup-shaped rose is endowed with a high center and the edges of the petals twisted outward. Over time, the rose slightly changes color, becomes more monotonous - orange or salmon. The aroma of roses is not very pronounced, it is manifested by sweetish-fruity notes.

Use in landscape design

This pink look is suitable for single plantings, and for groups. Roses are planted in flower beds, front gardens, zones with flower plantings are zoned. In addition, roses are suitable for cutting, which is why they are very loved by florists. Cut flowers can stand in a vase for 10-14 days, retaining their freshness and pleasant aroma.

Landing

English roses are planted in the spring (April-May), when the temperature stabilizes. For roses, a clean, leveled and sunny place is chosen, where it is light and warm, there is a protective barrier against drafts. It should also be borne in mind that roses grow well in partial shade.

Flowers grow comfortably in light, nutrient-rich, breathable and moderately moist soils with neutral acidity. Do not plant roses in the lowlands, where there is an accumulation of cold air and water.

Growing and care

I cultivate a flower with seedlings. For this, pits with a depth of 40-50 cm are prepared in advance, where drainage and fertilizers are applied. After planting, watering is carried out with warm water, and the soil is compacted. When placing seedlings, planting density must be observed - up to 4-5 bushes per 1 m2.

Shrub care consists of basic measures - irrigation with settled water, top dressing, loosening and weeding of the soil, mulching, if necessary, sanitary pruning and prevention of viruses.

Watering and feeding

The rose needs watering - in a favorable environment, once a week is enough. Water the bushes at the root. It is important to avoid crusting on the ground. Fertilizers are needed for development and abundant flowering. It is enough to feed the roses 2-3 times per season, alternating mineral and organic fertilizers.

Pruning

Roses need sanitary pruning. In early spring, frozen branches are removed, and the stems are shortened. In the fall, you need to remove dry and damaged branches. During the flowering period, wilted buds are removed.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

Only rose bushes grown in regions with severe winters need insulation. For shelter, film, agrofibre or burlap are used. In regions with warmer winters, mulching with branches of spruce branches or sawdust is sufficient.

Diseases and pests

Strong immunity provides resistance to powdery mildew and black spot. Pests rarely attack rose bushes.
