Among the capricious roses there are unpretentious varieties that a novice grower can grow on their site. Among them is the Annie Duprey variety.

Breeding history of the variety

This type of flowering plant was bred relatively recently - in 2006. French scientists of the Meilland International enterprise worked on the creation of the variety. As is usually the case, the name of the flower was given in honor of the famous writer and actress.

Description of the variety

It grows as a symmetrical bush up to a meter high and wide. The leaf plates are compacted, shiny, rather large. It has powerful large shoots.

Advantages and disadvantages

It is a versatile variety that is excellent in cutting and in a flower bed. Among the positive characteristics, it is worth noting:

  • good winter hardiness;

  • resistance to most diseases;

  • the possibility of re-flowering;

  • ease of care;

  • no burnout in the sun.

But there is one significant drawback - it is unstable to rain: if there is no shelter, then the bud opens instantly in rainy weather.

Flowering features

It blooms profusely with inflorescences of yellow-cream shades of 10-12 flowers per bush. Flowers of medium size up to 10 centimeters with an abundance of small petals. The buds are dense, symmetrical, and have a refined aroma. Long flowering with citrus aroma - sometimes it lasts all summer months.

Use in landscape design

Annie Dupreuil will easily become the basis of any site or site design. It is planted as a basis for a flower bed, decorating mixborders, decorating group and single plantings. The flower plant will easily fit into any decoration style: from the English landscape to rural country and modern.

And also the flower culture can be used in solitary plantings, in combination with a lawn, conifers and other varieties of roses.

Growing regions

The growing regions are quite diverse. Due to its winter hardiness, the variety is easily cultivated everywhere in Russia - from northern to southern regions.

Landing

The main planting activities in the regions of the middle lane begin in April-May. Planting in the fall is also possible, but the timing is greatly narrowed due to the fact that the plant must take root.

For a rose, holes with a diameter of up to 60 centimeters are needed. A drainage layer of expanded clay or crushed brick is laid on the bottom up to 10 centimeters deep. After drainage, it is better to lay organic matter in the form of compost or rotted manure in the same thick layer. Next, the garden soil is laid. The bush is sent to the hole and covered with garden soil with a slide.

Before starting planting work, the roots should be kept for up to a day in a mixture of heteroauxin, which stimulates the growth of roots and the plant as a whole. Unhealthy or elongated roots are best cut off immediately, carefully with a pruner.

A rose with an open root system is planted in open ground in this way: Annie Duprey is fixed in the hole so that the root collar is 3 centimeters below the ground, the roots must be straightened with care. After that, you can cover it with earth. The soil around the bush is tamped and watered.As the soil subsides, it is poured, mulched with leaf compost or slightly dried grass.

For planting, it is better to choose moderately sunny places, but without the presence of a large amount of moisture.

Growing and caring

Standard rose care is watering and loosening, pruning, fertilizing, preparing for wintering.

Watering and feeding

They practice seasonal feeding of roses. In spring, it is better to fertilize with nitrogen, and in summer - with potassium and phosphorus.

Watering is a must, especially during dry summers. It is better to use warm water, pouring up to 20 liters of water on the bush. If the summer is too dry, it is best to water it 2 times a week. With the end of summer, it is better to reduce watering.

Pruning

It is not necessary to practice early flowering of young bushes. It is recommended to constantly cut off all the buds until the end of summer. And by the end of August, a couple of buds are left on each bush so that they bloom and bear fruit.

At the time of spring sap flow, it is best to prune. We advise you to immediately decide what is more important in pruning - a formed bush or an accelerated onset of flowering. With strong pruning, up to 4 buds are left on the shoots, which will help rejuvenate the plant. With medium pruning, it is better to leave 7 buds - this way the plant will bloom faster and remain decorative. With weak pruning, faded inflorescences are removed.

And also in the spring, it is necessary to remove the affected peaks and frozen lashes. In autumn, for sanitary purposes, sick and dried shoots are removed, and the number of overgrown bushes is reduced. In the summertime, pruning can be used to adjust the flowering intensity.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

In the regions of the middle lane, it is still better to protect roses from frost. It is best to cover it at the moment when the temperature begins to drop to minus 10 degrees. Before sending the bush for wintering, it is cut off, and the ground around the stem is well loosened with the introduction of humus and compost. After that, everything is covered with spruce paws.

Next, frames are mounted from rails or arcs to a height of 20 centimeters. Covering material and polyethylene are pulled onto the frame.

In more northern regions (Siberia), the shelter procedure is similar.

Diseases and pests

If caring for a rose complies with all the rules, then diseases rarely affect the flower culture. But problems sometimes arise in the form of bark necrosis, powdery mildew or rust. Therefore, the use of special tools in these cases is mandatory. Often, diseased leaf plates are also cut off, and the soil around the bush is dug up.

Reproduction

In spring, a stalk is chosen from a common bush from its middle part, which has long been lignified, but is still growing quite intensively. The stalk is treated with a root growth stimulator, and then it is placed in high-quality soil for root formation.
