Angel Rose

Angela is a beautiful and widely known rose variety. The sophisticated English look has provided this flower with the devotion of gardeners in many European countries. In the Russian climate, this delicate plant has also taken root well.

The creators of the Angels were German breeders. The process was supervised by Rymer Kordes, the owner of one of the world famous nurseries and an experienced rose grower. The variety was created in 1975 by crossing the polyanthous Yesterday variety and the Peter Frankenfeld hybrid tea. Initially, the variety was given a different name, the world saw it only in 1984. Then the name of the Angel appeared. The subspecies began to spread around the world, in 1988 it was brought to Paris, where the plant received an award at the exhibition.

Angela belongs to the floribunda group. In different climatic conditions, it can have a different look. For example, in regions with a cool climate, the bush has an erect configuration, and if the planting zone is warm, then it will be more arched. Summer residents from hot areas grow such a rose as climbing.

In temperate and cold climates, the height of the bushes does not exceed 100-120 cm, while in warm weather they can grow up to two meters. The width of the bush can be up to 100 centimeters. The shoots of the ornamental plant are flexible, but they are quite powerful, they easily hold flowers. First-year twigs are usually bright green, then darken slightly. There is a lot of foliage, it is not very large, but tough. The upper part of the elliptical plates is characterized by a beautiful rich green tone and a distinct gloss. The lower one is lighter, with distinct veins.

Angel rose flowers have the following characteristics:

• on the stem are formed in the amount of 2-7 pieces;

• the sizes are small, but due to the number of flowers they look very interesting;

• roses are medium-sized, have from 25 to 40 petals;

• the buds are round, the flowers also look like small balls;

• the location can be single, and maybe in inflorescences;

• the buds are dark pink in color, the flowers are distinguished by a pale pink color, but with a crimson reverse;

• roses emit a rather weak aroma with a fruity undertone.

Rose Angela has many advantages:

• long flowering;

• very good immunity;

• preservation of the original appearance for two weeks after cutting;

• the presence of small thorns that do not cause discomfort to gardeners;

• the ability to easily endure both heat and frost.

There are very few disadvantages, and none of them are serious:

• the plant requires a responsible approach to watering and feeding;

• needs timely pruning;

• grows only on fertile soils.

From mid-June, the Angela bushes are covered with a scattering of small pink flowers. They retain their beauty for two weeks, while the inflorescence lives for 21 days. Then the petals fall off. If the faded inflorescences are removed in a timely manner, the plant will show continuous profuse flowering on average until October.It ends with the onset of the first frost.

Floribunda Angela can be grown as a stem or climbing rose depending on the region. Flowers are great in cutting. On the plots, they are placed in small groups or in the company of other flowers. Such a rose looks especially interesting among white or yellowish plants, as well as conifers. A single planting is also acceptable, especially if the bushes are tall. When grown in the southern regions, gardeners often braid gazebos and pergolas with roses, and decorate fences with them.

An angel can be raised in any region. But if you look at the reviews, it is most comfortable for her in the middle zone of the country.

Angela is quite demanding on the place of disembarkation. The plant likes sunny locations with good air circulation. However, it will not tolerate a strong wind. Culture soil needs fertile, with a loose consistency. It must be prepared in advance, the acidity is lowered to neutral. A rose is not planted where puddles do not dry out for a long time after rain.

The most important moment of disembarkation is placement in a drainage hole, for this variety it is required. The diameter and depth of the pit are the same - 50 centimeters. The substrate for planting should consist of turf and humus. The support for the bush is also placed in the pit. The branches of the seedling are cut to a length of 0.2 meters, then the bush is placed in a hole, covered with soil and watered.

Growing an Angel rose must include the correct watering and feeding regime. In addition, such a rose will need frequent loosening of the soil. Hilling, weeding is also a must for gardeners. In spring, roses should be sprayed against diseases and pests.

Floribunda Angela needs watering as the soil dries up. The irrigation frequency is directly dependent on the weather. In the rain, they do not water at all, in the heat - twice a week, in case of comfortable weather, you can irrigate once every 7 days. In the evening, the variety loves spraying the foliage with warm water.

Fertilizers containing nitrogen are applied every 2-3 weeks in April and May. Organic is preferred. In summer, superphosphate is suitable; ash is used as potassium. Good results are obtained by Kemir.

The haircut depends on the desired shape of the bush. For the trunk, you need to pinch the upper parts of the shoots. If you want a climbing rose, only the upper shoots are left, running along the support. Sanitary pruning is carried out in spring and autumn, before wintering.

Angela has good frost resistance. If the temperature is not lower than -20, you can do with simple mulching. At lower rates, the shoots should be pinned to the ground, and a shelter should be built from burlap and coniferous branches on top.

The Angel Rose is endowed with excellent immunity. She is not sick with anything if well looked after. However, if forecasts promise a rainy summer, preventive fungicide treatment should be carried out.

Insect attacks can be expected. The main ones will be rosy scale insect, leafworm. The sticky consistency on the leaves indicates the appearance of aphids, the cobweb is a tick. The fight is carried out both with the help of folk methods and thanks to chemical preparations.

The main method of plant breeding is cuttings. Lignified parts of strong bushes will do. Their length should be about 15 centimeters, and cutting is carried out after flowering, but so that it is the end of August. And also a rose can be propagated by layering.

The responses about the variety are very good. Summer residents noted that semi-double flowers, although not too spectacular, grow abundantly, which greatly increases the decorative effect of the variety. To many, the bushes of this floribunda resemble a rose hip. The rosette blooms without interruption, in cool summer it is especially bright, but in the heat the color turns pale.

However, the quality of the variety does not always correspond to the statements of the authors. Perhaps the point here is the climate or the care, it is difficult to understand exactly. So, for some summer residents, rose petals fly around in just a couple of days with the stated 14.In others, cut roses retained a good look for 3 days, while the originator insists that the bouquets keep well for two whole weeks.
