The rose with the romantic name André le Notre is a luxurious plant that can win any heart. Since this variety was presented by breeders, it has deservedly won many prizes at exhibitions. Roses are great for beginners and are loved by professional connoisseurs of beauty.

Breeding history of the variety

The authors of the rose André le Notre are employees of the French company Meilland. It was here that she appeared in 2001. Andre Le Notre belongs to the group of tea hybrids and is named after the famous landscape designer of the 17th century.

Description of the variety

The height of an actively growing bush with strong erect shoots reaches 90-110 cm. With a width of about 80 cm. Goblet buds of a creamy peach color with a pinkish dusting. The color of the cupped flower is pearl pink with a darker center and 60-65 petals. By the number of petals, the type of flower belongs to densely doubled.

As the bud opens, the colors fade slightly, and lighter shades become predominant. In the core, the densely doubled bud remains pink, and the petals are whitish along the outer edge. The irregular arrangement and wavy petals along the edge give the flowers an attractive openwork. Lacy roses stand out for their large size. In diameter, each of them grows up to 12-13 cm.

Flowers are arranged singly. The aroma reveals itself with shades of damask rose with apricot fleur, notes of myrrh, geranium, musk. The fleur is rich and intense. The bush is also decorated with large foliage - thick, dark green. Leaves are glossy, with a lot of veins.

The peculiarity of the Andre le Notre variety is the inconsistency of color, aroma and flower shape throughout the entire flowering phase.

Advantages and disadvantages

The rose of French origin has almost no complaints.

Large flowers and generous foliage create a harmonious look of the bush.

Roses of André le Notre have an amazing persistent scent, deservedly recognized by various awards.

This is one of the most lush roses among hybrid tea varieties.

For a long period of flowering, the flowers do not fade under the hot rays of the sun, retaining their light, but rich aroma.

According to the disadvantages, we can say about some darkening of the petals in the rainy season.

Flowering features

The rose blooms continuously and very profusely. The blooming period of the first wave occurs from June to September. Repeated flowering continues throughout the fall, literally until the very cold. Flowers emerge from beautiful spherical buds.

Use in landscape design

Rose André le Notre goes well with flowers of similar shades: peach, cream, yellow, pink and lilac. This is a frost-resistant plant, which allows you to grow it in rose gardens and create landscape compositions in the middle lane and in the southern part of Russia.

The rose has a chic decorative look. With its external data, it is simply created to entertain the eyes of a true gardener. This is a luxurious element for decorating a plot, a rose garden in individual or group plantings.

Landing

The rose does not tolerate shade very well and prefers to receive a lot of sunlight. Then its amazing color is fully revealed. The bush grows tall, with many spreading branches, which requires planting it in the open field. This variety is completely undemanding to the soil. Grows well on different soils.

Large bushes require a two-meter distance from each other. To grow normally, flowers need a temperature of +15 degrees Celsius and above, clean air and no drafts. Otherwise, the flowers may hurt.

An unsuitable place for landing is considered to be a lowland. There the rose may die. The best period for planting is from late April to early May. In the fall, planting is more difficult, because you need to find the time so that the rose has time to germinate well before winter.

Growing and care

Andre Le Notre roses do not require extraordinary care. Of the obligatory manipulations, loosening of the soil, weeding from weeds and timely watering are necessary. This rose can also be grown for cutting.

Watering and feeding

Water the French beauty several times a week. They are guided by the weather. Each individual bush requires approximately two buckets of water. In the fall, you can, in general, stop watering. In addition, it is important to provide the plant with nitrogen fertilization, as well as phosphorus and potash fertilization in the spring and summer.

Pruning

In the first year from planting on seedlings, it is recommended to remove all excess buds, preventing abundant flowering. This measure is necessary for a strong and healthy shrub to form.

With the arrival of spring, you need to do pruning. The top of the bush must be removed. Only 3 full-fledged buds need to be left on each seedling. Autumn is the time for hilling seedlings.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

The plant has a high frost resistance by nature. But at low temperatures, it is customary to insulate the bushes, sprinkling them with sand with sawdust, and spreading spruce paws on top of this layer.

Diseases and pests

Rosa André le Notre is quite resistant to many typical diseases affecting rose bushes. High plant resistance to pests. When aphids, bugs and other insects appear, appropriate preparations will help.

For aphids, beetles and caterpillars - spraying with "Mospilan", "Confidor maxi" or "Aktofit".

Spraying with a standard soap-alcohol solution is effective against fungi.

Powdery mildew will be helped by spraying with 1% Topaz solution, Bordeaux liquid or diluted Bayleton at a concentration of 0.2%.

A solution of sulfur 1% or "Topaz" 0.1% will help with black spot.

Review overview

Here are just a few reviews of gardeners who were lucky enough to grow a rose of French origin. They note that they are not afraid of the sun's rays. They hardly fade in the sun, but the delicate buds melt.

In the rain, the flowers become too heavy, and the branches tend to the ground, staining the light petals. But in the south, it tolerates rain and even wind normally, the buds open completely.

Incredible, magical beauty is revealed when the buds open. After they open, the fleecy center becomes visible. The flower takes on a resemblance to an old rose.

André le Notre should be planted away from fruit and berry bush crops. Near raspberries, cherries, plums, and even at a small distance from tall trees, seedlings show a noticeable slowdown in growth. The first frosts in such conditions are fatal for them.

This modern large-flowered rose has a great flowering view. And the aroma is described as delicious.

The original color of the petals attracts attention because it is unstable throughout the entire flowering period.

André le Notre, like most elite varieties of roses, is quite disease resistant and undemanding to the soil.

If you want to grow strong and lush bushes, you should not allow abundant flowering.

Gardeners around the world consider André le Notre to be one of the best tea hybrids.
