Colorists distinguish at least 15 shades of coral. Rosa Amelia Renaissance - the owner of one of the most interesting. The variety was bred by Olesen, the originator from Denmark, in 2002, but has already managed to gather fans in Russia. Included in the Renaissance series, in which there are only 34 varieties.

Description of the variety

Amelia Renaissance is a worthy representative of the scrub group. A bush with an upright growth pattern, slender, well-branched. There are few thorns. The height of the bush is 100-150 cm. The bush is moderate in width, no more than 1 meter. It bushes well. The foliage is bright green, with shine.

Flowers of the Amelia variety are large, up to 11-12 cm in diameter. The shape is a rosette, very neat. The number of petals - up to 40 pcs. The petals have a rounded edge, the styling is beautiful, architectural. The flower is lush, elegant, clear. The color of the petals is salmon pink, intense and cool. The color is luminous, very noticeable from a distance, in the photo the flowers can seem almost neon.

The aroma is of medium strength, sometimes described as strong.

  2. Elegant shape of flowers.

  3. Expressive, interesting color.

  4. Well-defined aroma.

  5. Flowers are well suited for cutting, stand in water for a long time.

Cons of the variety.

  1. Conflicting data on the resistance of the variety to rain.

  2. With poor pruning, the bush can grow bald from below with age.

The variety can also exhibit different strengths of aroma.

Flowering features

Flowering is very abundant, nodding. One stem has 1 to 3 flowers. The rose belongs to the re-flowering, there is a well-noticeable pause between the waves. The flowers are persistent, retain freshness for 10 days, according to reviews, even longer.

Use in landscape design

The flower is magnificent for near and far plans thanks to its electrically shining juicy color. During the period of mass flowering, the bush is covered with lush pompoms. Such a rose will easily play the role of a soloist. In mixborders it will be dominant. It is difficult to combine with other roses - the variety easily suppresses other roses, making them faded and invisible. The best background is calm green. The rose looks great against the backdrop of lawns, shrubs, trees. Good against the background of any plain painted buildings. Roses are compact, so they can be grown in containers. The rose shape is sometimes called "Tudor" for its nostalgic, antique character. The rose really resembles classic English roses, lush and multi-layered. Such flowers will be good in romantic gardens and compositions, go well with marble, classic benches, arches, fountains.

Landing

It is better to plant young Amelia roses in spring, in extreme cases - in autumn. For planting, choose a sunny, fresh and not damp place, with good air circulation, but without drafts. Places where moisture stagnates are categorically undesirable, damp places, spring floods are possible. The soil must be well-drained. The groundwater level should be no closer than 1 m. An important soil characteristic is its nutritional value. Do not feel sorry for humus and well-rotted manure. In some cases, it makes sense to completely replace the top layer of the soil with a nutrient mixture composed of peat, sand, humus, leaf and turf soil. Too sandy soils should be avoided - the roses lack nutrition and moisture in them.

Growing and care

Rose Amelia does not require specific care. This is a persistent and hardy rose, for which general agricultural technology is enough. Weeds, damaged branches are regularly removed, watered and fertilized.

Watering and feeding

Watered abundantly, avoiding drying out of the soil or stagnant moisture. They are fed 3-5 times per season, focusing on nitrogenous fertilizers in the spring and potassium-phosphorus fertilizers starting in June. Rose consumes many trace elements: calcium, boron, zinc, magnesium. Therefore, spraying with a universal mineral fertilizer (strictly according to the instructions) or an ash solution is periodically useful. Summer dressing is carried out in a pause between flowering.

Pruning

Rose Amelia Renaissance - the owner of an active, dense bush. Therefore, pruning is one of the essential items in the care. In the spring, 5 strong shoots are left, each should have at least 7 developed buds. Remove all branches directed towards the center of the bush. In young plants, at the beginning of the season, it is advisable to remove the first buds in order to get high-quality flowering in the second wave.

All wilted flowers are cut off. Sanitary pruning is carried out regularly, throughout the season, the fallen leaves are removed from the bottom of the bush.

When cutting flowers, it is better to cut no more than 1-2 branches at a time. Intensive pruning will weaken the plant.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

The variety belongs to the 6th zone of frost resistance. Such roses in the middle lane must be covered. Without shelter, they winter well in southern Russia, southern Ukraine and European countries with a mild continental climate. If in winter the temperature can drop below -15 ° C, the layer of mulch for the winter should be at least 15-20 cm. The bush is lush, so it is relatively difficult to cover. The branches are either cut short, or pulled together and wrapped with covering material, or bent to the ground and then covered. The term for sending roses for winter is the onset of stable cold weather down to –5 ° С.

Diseases and pests

There is little data on the disease resistance of the rose. Reviews are conflicting. The originator describes the roses from the Renaissance series as very healthy and hardy roses. These are indeed modern compact roses that combine the romantic beauty of antique roses and practicality. In domestic sources, the Amelia variety is often described as having average health.

For the prevention of powdery mildew and black spot, regular treatments with Fitosporin will be useful. In the second half of summer, foliar feeding from wood ash is useful - they nourish the plant with potassium and protect against fungal and bacterial diseases.

Preparation of the solution: 1 glass of wood ash is poured with 1 liter of boiling water, infused for several days, diluted in a bucket of water, the plants are sprayed on the leaf, from the upper and lower sides.

Treatments or watering with growth stimulants will be useful: "Epin", "Zircon", "Heteroauxin".

Review overview

Persistent and very beautiful - reviews about the advantages of the rose Amelia are unanimous. The flowers are huge, and against the background of a neat bush they seem even larger. The flower itself is interesting, very elegant, glowing. Flowering is nodding and without pause. Flowers are persistent, not susceptible to rain and wind. The plant is hardy, does not get sick, the foliage is dense. There is also criticism: the bush does not grow, the flowers are poorly resistant to rain, the rose flies quickly from the wind, the pause between flowering is very pronounced - for some time the bush stands without flowers. The bush may not be as beautiful as promised. The inconsistency in the reviews suggests that the variety is dependent on agricultural technology. Particular attention should be paid to pruning the rose for more lush, compact shrubs.
