Rose is the queen of flowers, so it is massively grown in flower beds, in gardens, and whole rose gardens are planned. Thanks to scientists, there are many varieties of roses that even a beginner can grow. These are the French varieties Ambiance, which delights with flowering over a long period.

Breeding history

Rose Ambiance is a hybrid tea variety, bred in 1998 by French breeders on the basis of the florist company NIRP International. For 20 years, the pink variety Ambiance has won several awards and has become a favorite among florists around the world. The flower is cultivated both in flower beds and in greenhouses. The rose is grown in almost all regions of Russia. In addition, the variety is in demand among flower growers in Ukraine and Belarus.

Description of the variety

The French rose is a tall shrub with erect stems prone to branching. A shrub with a height of about 100 cm grows. The plant is characterized by moderate thickening of large, emerald-green leaves with a noticeable gloss, strong shoots and a developed root system, deepening into the ground by 90-100 cm.The diameter of the rose bush does not exceed 70-80 cm. A characteristic feature of the variety is a weak prickly shoots, which facilitates the process of care and cutting flowers.

Advantages and disadvantages

The beautiful Ambiance flower has many advantages, among them it is worth highlighting: resistance to a number of diseases and viruses, good cold resistance, easy tolerance of prolonged rains, in which the buds do not deteriorate, continuous flowering, allowing you to enjoy beauty for a long time, as well as high tolerance to prolonged heat. There are practically no flaws in the plant. The only thing that many growers point out is the low intensity of the aroma and the susceptibility to powdery mildew.

Flowering features

The rose belongs to the category of continuous flowering. The flowering period is from June to September. The highlight of the variety is the slow blooming of the buds, which allows you to enjoy the beauty of the flowers for a long time. Up to 3 buds are formed on each stem, resembling tall glasses. Flowers are located both singly and in inflorescences.

Goblet double roses grow quite large, consisting of 35-40 petals, 10-12 cm in diameter. Their color depends on the climatic characteristics of the growing zone. Most roses grow in two colors - bright yellow with a red border. It is worth noting that the flowers stay on the bush for quite a long time.

The blossoming buds emit a faint, but incredibly pleasant aroma with sweet notes.

Use in landscape design

Ambiance will adorn any rose garden, front garden, huge garden or miniature flower bed. The French rose looks great in single plantings, and also looks harmonious in flower arrangements. A bright yellow rose with a red border is often used by florists in festive compositions. In addition, cut roses look good in a vase, such as on a kitchen table. A cut bouquet can stand in a vase of water for about 10-15 days.

Landing

A rose is planted during a period when a stable heat has come, there are no sharp temperature fluctuations. Generally, the time from April to May is suitable. For planting, a weed-free area is selected, leveled, possibly on a small hill, where there is a lot of light, heat, there is a protective barrier from gusty winds and drafts. Experienced growers recommend planting in the southern part of the garden, flower beds, beds, since the French rose shrub needs abundant sun and is very susceptible to shade. It is important not to plant roses next to large trees, which can take all the nutrients from the soil and create shade.

Flowers grow comfortably in light, fluffy, moist, fertile and breathable soils. In addition, the plant needs a good drainage system and also does not tolerate overly acidic soils. To prevent decay of the roots, which penetrate very deeply into the soil, you should choose a place with a buried passage of groundwater. In swampy soil with excessive dampness, roses will not grow.

Growing and caring

A rose is grown by cultivating seedlings, the rhizomes of which are pretreated with a growth stimulant. Planting is carried out in pre-prepared pits, where drainage is provided, as well as a layer of fertilizers. Deepening of the root collar is permissible by 3-5 cm, no more. After the procedure for planting seedlings, the soil is compacted a little and watered with warm water.

The agricultural technology of the French rose is standard - watering, fertilizing, gentle loosening, weeding, sanitary pruning of bushes, prevention of infections and insect infestations. In addition, it is recommended to shelter plantings for the winter, as well as light mulching.

Watering and feeding

Rose Ambiance, like most of its relatives, needs good watering. Watering with warm or settled water is recommended in extreme heat 3 times a week, and during the rainy season one is enough. Water is introduced gently, at the root.

It is necessary to feed roses twice a season. In the spring, nitrogen fertilizers need to be applied, and in the summer, the plant needs phosphorus-potassium complexes, which contribute to the development and flowering of rose bushes.

Pruning

The plant needs two basic pruning. In early spring, shoots that have frozen over the winter are removed, as well as shortening. You need to cut the shoots so tightly that a length of about 10-15 cm remains. Only 2-3 buds are left on the shoots. In the summertime, it is advisable to make sure that no wilted rosebuds remain on the bushes, which interfere with the opening of other buds. Sanitary pruning is performed in autumn. At this moment, diseased and damaged parts of the bush are removed, and, if necessary, careful thinning of the bushes is carried out.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

Despite their high frost resistance, rose bushes need reliable protection in winter. This is especially important for regions with severe and little snowy winters. After the autumn pruning, the bushes are covered with dense agrofibre, which is removed in early spring. Experienced florists recommend building a strong frame over pink plantings, and pulling a film or agrofiber. In addition, good mulching can serve as protection against freezing, in which spruce branches or peat can be used. The layer of mulch is also removed in the spring.

Diseases and pests

The flower crop has a very strong immune system that protects the plant from many fungal infections. The French rose is vulnerable only to powdery mildew, which sometimes gets sick. Fungal infection occurs when agricultural practices are violated or when excessive moisture is present. It is extremely rare for planting roses to be attacked by spider mites and leaf rollers.
