Hallelujah rose is one of the most popular varieties, which is distinguished by strong immunity and quick acclimatization in almost any soil. It is worth taking a closer look at the features of the bushes and studying the method of growing them.

Description of the variety

Hallelujah is a hybrid tea rose bred by Georges Delbard. Among the differences of the flower, a unique combination of two shades during the flowering of buds is distinguished. Other characteristics:

  • bushes - erect with long shoots, up to 80 cm high;

  • leaf plates - glossy, dark green;

  • bud diameter - 11-12 cm;

  • the color of the roses is dark red on the inside and matt silver on the other side.

Roses have excellent winter hardiness, the bushes bloom before frost with the re-formation of buds.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the Hallelujah variety include:

  • good resistance to weather conditions;

  • quick survival in the ground;

  • large buds;

  • long flowering;

  • frost resistance.

Among the minuses, there is a slow blooming of buds.

Flowering features

Roses bloom at a measured pace, gradually forming large buds of rich shades. The flower of a popular variety has two colors at once. The first is ruby red, which over time takes on a darker shade. It covers the inside of the petals. The outer side is painted silver-white.

During flowering, the buds emit a pleasant and delicate aroma, rich in hints of berries and fruits.

Use in landscape design

Landscape designers appreciate the variety for its tall stems and large buds up to 12 cm in diameter. Flowers are actively used to decorate free-standing flower beds, arches, gazebos, as well as to arrange spectacular rose gardens with various varieties.

Landing

You need to plant a Hallelujah rose in plain sight, choosing a site so that it can be clearly seen from the house. Additional recommendations for choosing a location:

  • the site should be well lit, but away from direct sunlight;

  • the place should be calm;

  • the groundwater level should be low and the acidity neutral.

Before planting, it is recommended to thoroughly loosen and fertilize the soil with organic compounds. They start planting roses mainly in late spring in more northern regions and at the beginning of the season in southern ones. To plant a bush, they dig a hole up to 60 cm deep, keep a distance of 50-60 cm between the holes so that the seedlings do not interfere with each other. Next steps.

  1. A drainage layer of stones, gravel or crushed stone is laid on the bottom of the pit. The layer thickness should not exceed 10 cm.

  2. An additional layer of fertilizer up to 10 cm thick is placed on top of the drainage.

  3. The seedlings matured one day before planting in a growth stimulator are placed in the ground, after cutting off too long and damaged roots.

  4. The seedlings are covered with earth.

  5. Compact the soil around the plant and water it abundantly.

Such a planting scheme will improve the survival rate of bushes in the ground and accelerate growth.

Growing and care

Care includes several points.

  1. Watering.For the procedure, you should use warm and previously settled water, adding up to 15-20 liters of water under each bush. In this case, it is worth taking into account the weather conditions, increasing watering in the heat and decreasing in the rains. On average, watering the bushes is recommended 1-2 times a week. By the end of summer, watering should be stopped.

  2. Top dressing. During the season, the rose should be fertilized 2-3 times. The first time feeding is applied a week after planting, giving preference to organic matter. The following fertilizers are used during the period of active growth and flowering, choosing mineral complexes.

  3. Pruning. In the spring, you need to take care of the sanitary pruning of the bushes, removing dry and damaged branches. And also pruning can be carried out during flowering or bush formation.

Additionally, it is recommended to weed and loosen the soil after each watering in order to prevent the spread of diseases and pests through weeds, as well as to accelerate the flow of nutrients to the plant roots.

Frost resistance and preparation for winter

Hallelujah rose has excellent frost resistance, but this does not mean that you do not need to cover the plant for the winter. As a shelter, gardeners are advised to use spruce branches, which must be laid out between the bushes and on top of the plants. Additionally, a frame is erected, forming a protective space.

Closer to spring, you should get rid of the shelter gradually, layer by layer freeing the rose. The film is removed first so that the temperature under it does not rise too much and does not destroy the flowers.

Diseases and pests

The variety is resistant to pests, but susceptible to disease, as stated in the reviews. In most cases, the rose is affected by fungus or rot due to the proximity of groundwater or improperly organized watering. To prevent the death of Hallelujah bushes, it is recommended to take care of the hardening of the seedlings and preventive treatment of the planted bushes at least once a week.

For processing, special formulations are used, which can be bought at a gardening store. Before using the drugs, it is recommended to carefully study the instructions in order to avoid mistakes and not to worsen the condition of the bushes.

Reproduction

Bushes of a popular variety are propagated using cuttings. This is the only way to preserve the unique properties of the rose. Cuttings are harvested in advance, using young shoots of strong bushes, the first flowering of which took place a year ago.
