Rose Admiral

The luxurious hybrid tea rose of the Nostalgie series called Admiral attracts attention at first glance with its richness of color, size and slightly old-fashioned shape of the bud. The variety blooms very abundantly and magnificently, for a long time. It is not afraid of being damaged by diseases and pests of horticultural crops.

The variety was presented in 2017 by the Tantau nursery from Germany. The initial introduction to the culture took place in 2015 under the name Tan11049.

Admiral rose bushes are tall, with erect shoots 80-120 cm long. The crown is compact, 40-50 cm wide. Leaves are dark green, dense and large, shiny. There are thorns on the stems.

The main color of the flower of this rose is dark red, the buds are almost black, densely colored. The color is saturated. Corollas in shape belong to the old, classical category, have a cup-shaped shape, large size and a diameter of 12-14 cm. The flower itself is densely double, with a large number of tight-fitting petals. The aroma is very strong, but delicate, with hints of ripe pear.

Admiral roses have many advantages. Among the most obvious benefits are:

• high adaptation to drought;

• very good resistance to rain;

• lush corolla of a flower;

• classic bouquet form;

• strong strong stems;

• long-term preservation of decorativeness in the cut;

• 1 bud per shoot.

The disadvantage of the variety can be called the stinging of the stems, which is not always convenient when drawing up bouquets. In addition, plants are thermophilic, they need protection from the cold; in severe winters, the bushes can die.

The variety is incredibly popular as a cut, for making bouquets and floral arrangements. And also the Admiral rose is suitable for growing in a standard form, with planting on the site as a tapeworm. Planting in small groups, in flower beds, in mixborders and cascades, is no less popular. It is highly valued in landscape design for its decorative effect.

The variety was originally bred for greenhouse cultivation for cutting in cold climatic zones. In the open field it is planted in the tropics and subtropics in Australia, Africa, in some European countries.

To place the Admiral rose, choose areas with fertile, light soil, breathable and loose. Planting is carried out in April-May.

To grow rose bushes of this variety, partial shade is necessary so that the petals do not bake. The admiral responds well to spraying and sprinkling. It is carried out in the early morning hours or late at night to avoid sunburn on the leaves. Useful for roses of this variety and mulching, which inhibits the growth of weeds.

It is recommended to water the bushes 2 times a week in hot weather with warm, settled water. At least 15-20 liters are served under each plant at a time. After that, the earth is loosened, weeds are pulled out. Top dressing is also recommended regular. In the spring, nitrogen complexes are given for growing deciduous mass. In summer, with the onset of budding, potassium-phosphorus.

Removal of excess branches is carried out 2 times a year. In the spring, before the start of sap flow, a formative pruning is required, with the removal of 1/3 of the length of the shoots, preserving 7-8 skeletal elements per adult bush. In autumn, sanitary, with the cleaning of faded corollas, broken, dried or affected shoots. The bush is not cut off strongly, otherwise flowering will begin 2-3 weeks later.

This variety of roses is considered hardy. Withstands temperatures down to -23 ... 29 degrees Celsius. In winter, it requires shelter.

The Admiral rose has an average resistance to diseases and pests. The variety is resistant to powdery mildew. It is highly immune to black spot.

Rose Admiral is especially loved by connoisseurs of hybrid tea varieties with a classic burgundy-red shade of petals. They are praised for the beautiful flowering and splendor of the bush, healthy and strong shoots, high growth rate. Admiral is one of the few varieties whose petals are not afraid of precipitation. Effective when cut, the rose is really good in garden design, especially when planted on a trunk, with the formation of a beautiful and neat crown.

Gardeners call the main disadvantage of the variety its vulnerability to certain diseases. And also the plant is quite difficult to acquire in Russia. High-quality seedlings are most often brought from Germany.
