What to do if the tap on the Bosch dishwasher is lit?
  1. Causes
  2. Eliminating the water supply problem
  3. Eliminating the wrong connection to the drain
  4. Checking the "Aquastop" function

Unfortunately, even the most reliable equipment produced by renowned manufacturing companies is not immune to malfunctions. So, after many years of trouble-free operation, a German brand dishwasher may fail. At the same time, all malfunctions in modern samples of such household appliances are accompanied by a corresponding indication. Such notifications allow you to determine the causes of the breakdowns that have occurred and eliminate them in a timely manner. That is why it is important to know what to do if the tap on the Bosch dishwasher is on. It is worth noting that this unpleasant situation is rather sparingly covered in the attached instructions.

Causes

In situations where the Bosch dishwasher has issued an error code on its display, and at the same time the faucet is flashing, it is initially important to determine the reason for such an indication. This may be accompanied by additional symptoms. For example, the pump hums, but the PMM does not work (does not collect and / or drain water). In any case, the self-diagnosis system warns the user about the presence of problems.

In accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, the tap is on or flashing if a full water intake into the wash chamber is not ensured. It is worth noting that such an explanation, combined with the absence of any recommendations, is unlikely to help quickly find a way out of a difficult situation. It is both about determining the causes of the malfunction and about carrying out the appropriate repair work.

The faucet image on the display panel of the Bosch dishwasher may appear in the following cases.

  • The filter element is clogged, located directly next to the inlet valve of the line.
  • Out of order water supply tap.
  • The dishwasher is not properly connected to the drain. In such cases, one has to deal with such a phenomenon as "backflow".
  • Worked system of protection against leaks AquaStop.

If you have any difficulties with decoding the indicators and error codes of the equipment of the legendary German brand, you can use the instruction manual. It is also important to take into account that for all the reasons listed above, the indicator in question may behave differently.

  • The icon is on continuously or blinks - when the intake filter is clogged, water does not enter the PMM chamber at all, or water intake is too slow.
  • The tap is constantly on - the inlet valve is out of order and does not work.
  • Indicator flashes continuously - there are problems with the drain. The icon will behave in the same way when the anti-leakage system is activated.

Additional evidence of the presence of certain technical problems is code E15. If it appears on the dishwasher's monitor along with a tap, then the source of trouble may be Aquastop. It is important to note that depending on the model of Bosch equipment, it can be either partial or complete. If a leak occurs, then water is in the pallet of the machine, as a result of which the float sensor is triggered, and a corresponding notification is displayed on the display.

The element of the partial protection system is an absorbent sponge located directly in the filler sleeve. If there is a leak, it will begin to absorb water and cut off its supply to the system.

It should also be borne in mind that an excessive amount of foam when washing dishes often causes leaks, and, consequently, the activation of the AquaStop function and the display of error messages.

Eliminating the water supply problem

It often happens that the error code did not appear or disappeared, but the tap still lights up. In this case, you need to pay attention to the water supply line. To do this, you need to do the following.

  1. Close the filler cock.
  2. If there is a flow-through filter, dismantle it and check for clogging.
  3. Disconnect the filler sleeve and thoroughly clean it, after rinsing it under running water.
  4. Remove the filter mesh, which is often clogged with scale and rust. Particularly stubborn dirt can be removed with a citric acid solution.

At the final stage, the condition of the intake valve of the water intake is checked. In most of the PMM models of the Bosch brand, this structural element is located in the lower part of the case. To dismantle it, unscrew the fastening screws and remove the decorative strip. It is also important to remember to disconnect the wiring chips from the device. Checking its electronic component is carried out by determining the resistance using a multimeter.

Normal readings typically range from 500 to 1500 ohms.

To determine the state of the mechanical part of the valve, it will be necessary to apply a voltage of 220 V to it and make sure that the membrane is triggered. If any malfunctions are detected, the device is replaced with a new one. Do the same with the inlet hose. Another important point is checking and cleaning the nozzles, for which you should:

  1. open the hopper door;
  2. remove the basket;
  3. remove the upper and lower spray arms;
  4. clean the nozzles (you can use a regular toothpick) and rinse them with running water.

In addition to all of the above, problems with the water supply can be associated with a sensor that monitors leaks.

It can fail or give incorrect signals to the control module.

Eliminating the wrong connection to the drain

Failures in the operation of modern PMM are not always due to poor quality or failure of individual components and assemblies. Often, an indication in the form of a faucet can be highlighted on the panel due to improper installation of the drain line. In such situations, there is a direct connection between water intake and discharge. If the outlet is connected in violation of the rules, then the collected water will flow out of the chamber by itself. In turn, electronics perceives such a phenomenon as problems with filling, which is what it gives an appropriate message.

Avoiding such troubles is quite simple. To do this, it will be enough to competently connect the Bosch dishwasher to the sewer system. There are several ways to do this, and the easiest one is to install a corrugated drain hose at the edge of your kitchen sink. For this, special holders made of plastic are used.

Similar devices are found in modern washing machines.

It is important to remember that this option is not always relevant in practice.... If we are talking about floor models PMM, then such a drain can be considered exclusively as a short-term measure. The key point is that the dishwasher is located low and the sink through which the dirty water is drained is higher. The result will be an overload of the drain pump, which in itself will significantly reduce its life.

Most often, there are two alternative ways to drain water from the dishwasher:

  1. through the siphon of the kitchen sink;
  2. when connecting the hose directly to the sewer pipe through a special rubber cuff.

The first option can be safely called the most successful. With this installation, several tasks are simultaneously solved.It is about eliminating unpleasant odors by means of a water seal, preventing backflow of water, as well as creating the necessary pressure in the system and protecting against leaks.

To implement the second method, you will need to install a branch in the form of a tee. The most important point in this case is the height at which the place where the hose is connected to the system should be located. In accordance with the instructions, it is located at least 40 cm above the sewer pipe, that is, the hose itself should not just sit on the floor.

Checking the "Aquastop" function

If a Bosch dishwasher is equipped with a system for protecting equipment from leaks, then there is a possibility that the appearance of the described icon on the panel is the result of its operation. When the Aquastop function is activated, the water supply is automatically stopped. It should be noted that an error code is optional while the indicator is flashing.

If the listed symptoms appear, it is recommended to check the protection system itself... As practice shows, sometimes the usual sticking of the sensor located in the PMM pallet can be the source of problems. It is also worth paying attention to the body and all the joints of the hoses, checking them for leaks. If such steps did not help to identify the cause of the failure in the operation of the equipment, then you should:

  1. turn off the dishwasher by pulling the power cord out of the socket;
  2. tilt the machine several times in different directions - such manipulations can help the float to take its normal (working) position;
  3. completely drain the water in the pan;
  4. wait until it dries completely.

In addition to all of the above, an important point will be the condition of the hose itself, equipped with the automatic system in question. It is important to remember that we are talking about a sleeve enclosed in a protective casing and having a special device in the form of a valve. In the event of an emergency, the latter shuts off the water supply to the dishwasher chamber. The key feature is that the system can be triggered even if the hose bursts.

When the mechanical protection is activated, it will have to be replaced with a new one.
