Summer kitchens are built not only in summer cottages, love for them has remained since Soviet times. Then in the southern villages of the country, kitchens were built separately from residential buildings, so it was safer to use bottled gas.

And today it is difficult to do without such a kitchen for the owners of gardens and vegetable gardens, whose day is spent in the chores in the fresh air. If the area next to the kitchen is equipped with a canopy, all daytime life will boil within the summer building, and the house will only be needed for sleep.

Advantages and disadvantages

A separate kitchen with a canopy will be useful for owners of summer cottages and country houses, both for recreation and for routine work. Let's try to figure out what are the advantages of such a structure.

  • The summer building becomes the center of suburban life - adults are busy in it, sorting out crops, making winter preparations. Children play right there, under a canopy, always under supervision.
  • All the dirt from working rural everyday life remains outside the living quarters. The kitchen is easier to clean in the evening than the entire house.
  • For vacationers, lovers of country life under a canopy, you can arrange a dining area. On the table, dishes will come directly from the summer kitchen, as you know, dinners in the open air are held with great appetite.
  • In many cases, the kitchen building is divided into two rooms. One of the rooms has a dining room or a shower room, the importance of which on hot days can hardly be overestimated.
  • A kitchen with a canopy can be thought out in such a way that all summer holidays, with a large number of friends and relatives, take place in the fresh air. If the apartment building is small, it is impossible to arrange a full-fledged party in it.

The disadvantages include the seasonality of using a summer building, that is, only in the warm season. The second drawback concerns large buildings on a solid foundation with a barbecue oven and other amenities. You will need a building permit for it.

Varieties

Open, closed or combined summer kitchens are built in the courtyards of private houses. Any of these buildings can be supplemented with a canopy.

Open

An open-type summer kitchen is erected under a canopy, with virtually no walls. The structure can be in the form of a patio, terrace or gazebo. Such a kitchen does not need a solid foundation, insulation, a hood is the most budget-friendly construction option. A foundation and two walls to keep out the wind may be needed if the owner decides to build a serious outdoor oven.

Closed

This type of kitchen can be located on the veranda, but usually it is built separately from the house. The advantage of the closed type is the ability to equip the premises with the usual appliances and furniture. A full-fledged structure will require more time for construction and tangible costs.

Combined

The kitchen is endowed with closed and open areas. Cooking takes place within the walls of a room equipped with kitchen appliances, and the dining area is located under a canopy in the fresh air. This technique allows you to protect the equipment from bad weather influences and feel like having a rest in nature.

How to do it yourself?

Before proceeding with the construction of a summer kitchen, it is necessary to draw up a drawing, make measurements on the ground, make calculations and purchase building materials with a small margin, in case of mistakes.

The site chosen for construction should be well leveled. Using a tape measure, rope and a peg, make markings for the columnar foundation. Then, holes are dug about 70 cm deep under the corner and intermediate pillars, with a frequency of 1.5 m. At the same time, recesses are made for the supports holding the canopy. After pouring the foundation, leave it for several days to dry out.

At the next stage, walls are erected from any desired material. On the upper part of the walls, strapping is made with beams, on which the logs are attached, the crate is installed and the roof is mounted from a metal profile, roofing material or bitumen shingles.

A canopy supported by supports is attached to the finished building. Some owners are building a huge shed between the house and the summer kitchen so that you can spend time outside even in the rain.

Summer kitchens with a canopy in the adjoining territories make the life of the owners of country houses more pleasant and comfortable. The simple structure significantly facilitates the daily routine and helps to fully relax in the fresh air, enjoying the beauty of the garden.
