Outdoor sliding doors, as an object of installation in private estates, are becoming more and more popular today. A certain demand is due to the fact that such structures are distinguished not only by their beautiful appearance, but also by optimal resistance to various types of deformation, which often manifests itself under the influence of temperature drops or changes in humidity levels.

Advantages and disadvantages

Entrance sliding systems at the moment are a real trend, a squeak of fashion. They can be seen in shops, banks, hospitals, at the entrance to shopping centers and private houses, cottages.

Contrary to the opinion of skeptics that sliding structures cannot fulfill their main function - to protect premises from unwanted intrusion of unauthorized persons, modern sliding entry products are incredibly durable and reliable.

External retractable canvases have a number of advantages:

  • modern beautiful design;
  • strength;
  • efficient use of space;
  • functionality;
  • the ability to close openings of any size;
  • convenient entrance for people;
  • fire safety;
  • durability;
  • ease of use;
  • excellent soundproofing and heat-insulating capabilities;
  • ease of care.

Depending on the main material used for the production of entrance doors, outdoor sliding doors have certain disadvantages.

Plastic ones provide insufficient insulation, however, this moment can be quickly eliminated by using rubber seals.

The second drawback is the unnatural origin of the material. Although this nuance does not play any role for doors to the street, since plastic is widely used for storing food and in the production of toys for children.

Metal doors are susceptible to the negative effects of corrosion processes, and plexiglass doors do not give a sense of security, since they have 100% visibility.

Each type of door has its own disadvantages that must be considered before purchasing a product.

Design

Retractable entrance panels are a type of design in which the doors open / close parallel to the wall. They are divided into types:

  • Roller. The main advantage is an attractive appearance and ease of installation (you can put it on your own without the help of outsiders). The mechanism is fixed on the wall, which can cause problems with sound and heat insulation, since a gap appears between the wall and the door leaf, thanks to which the door travels along the guides.
  • Cassette. In terms of the way of work, they practically do not differ from the previous version. The difference lies in the fact that all moving parts and the system web itself are hidden in the cassette. This design is tightly attached to the wall or along it. Thanks to the cassette mechanism, the doors close tightly, which avoids the unpleasant moments inherent in the roller system. The installation of the cassette structure is carried out only by specialists - an inexperienced person will not be able to install such a door on their own.

The only drawback of this type of product is the high cost, although this aspect justifies itself with a large number of advantages.

  • "Book" - the product is represented by two identical doors that fold like a book.
  • "Harmonic" - several canvases, folding in the process of operation with an accordion.

The last two options are suitable when the doorway is large and the walls close to it are narrow, that is, there is no "extra" space to move the sash.

The complete set of sliding canvases is a cloth, an opening and fastening mechanism, fittings.

The main part of sliding systems is represented by glass models. Meanwhile, there are metal options on the building materials market. When opened, they are retracted into a specially designated opening, which makes suspended aluminum products multifunctional and as compact as possible. Such structures are most often chosen for installation in private estates (country buildings, cottages).

Glass sliding doors using plastic can be made from a cold or warm profile. The first option is ideal for summer cottages where their owners rest exclusively in the warm months of the year. The warm profile is best used in residential buildings, when it is important to keep as much heat as possible in the room. Such doors will not show through even in winter, they will close tightly and keep warm perfectly. In addition, the warm profile has excellent sound insulation properties.

Many buyers are sure that only transparent glass is used for sliding systems, however, modern manufacturers have made sure that their customers have a choice. Glass for entrance systems can be matte, tinted and with different overflows.

The following types of glass are used in the production of sliding doors:

  • Hot. A very practical type of glass, as it can withstand the greatest temperature changes.
  • Laminated. Safe and reliable glass, often used in construction work.
  • Reinforced. Inside there is a metal mesh, which makes the material much more resistant to external mechanical stress than the previous two options.
  • Acrylic. The lightest glass, yet very practical. The main advantage is a wide assortment. This type of glass can be ordered in any color and shade.
  • Glass composite. The material is comparable to steel. Fiberglass doors will suit even the most demanding customers who need to install large structures. The material contains fiberglass and polyester resins, thanks to which doors made from this raw material are durable, lightweight and of high quality.

Sliding doors of modern production are distinguished by exquisite design, especially street glass models. The hardened material is very durable, reliable and safe in every way. The design of glass products is very different. Glass can be colored or transparent, frosted, decorated or stained glass. Stained glass models look especially impressive in crowded places (galleries, exhibitions, etc.).

The modern buyer is offered a wide variety of design options for sliding systems for every taste and wishes. However, for outdoor installation, most often they buy products with transparent or frosted glazing. Outdoor sliding glass doors are mounted on guides and move with a carriage on wheels.

Such doors save space, let the sun's rays pass well, and create a bright and cozy atmosphere in the room.

Price

The price for sliding street doors in each case is different and is added up taking into account many components.

The main criteria that affect pricing are:

  • dimensions of the structure;
  • the type of glass used;
  • way of registration;
  • hardware manufacturer;
  • system of mechanisms (automated or not);
  • availability of accessories.
