Arrangement of a balcony involves not only the installation of high-quality glazing, but also the installation of a plastic door. This design allows you to protect the interior from the penetration of cold, ensuring the optimal temperature regime. Products of this type are distinguished by their durability, but, nevertheless, they lose their technical characteristics over time. They can be restored using special regulatory mechanisms that are installed on each door.

When is it needed?

Adjusting a plastic balcony door is a relatively simple process that almost every home craftsman can perform. Perform this operation in such situations:

  • Opening the door takes a lot of effort. In most cases, you should just compare the move after installation and after some time.
  • Closing, the canvas clings to the door frame. This indicates a skew or incorrect installation.
  • Turning the knob has become very easy (large backlash) or very difficult.
  • If the lock is open, and the canvas independently changes its position, this indicates a violation of the structure.
  • Drafts or small cold spots near a closed door.

The signs described earlier indicate that the system is already severely disrupted. Sometimes it is almost impossible to solve such problems with one adjustment. To identify minimal violations, you should follow simple rules:

  1. One of the easiest ways to identify skew is to assess the self-propelled blade. To do this, the door simply opens a little and stops in this position. If after that it starts to move arbitrarily to one of the sides in the absence of a draft, then it needs to be regulated.
  2. You can identify the skew with a pencil. They need to circle the door frame around the entire perimeter to form a kind of rectangle. After that, the canvas is opened, and the lines are compared with the door frame. If they are parallel to it, then everything is fine. Otherwise, this indicates a skew.
  3. To assess the clamping force, insert a sheet of newspaper between the door and the frame and close the structure. After that, the paper is pulled out. A similar operation is repeated on different parts of the box. In this case, the effort should be the same everywhere, and if not, then in one of the places the clamp is weakened, which needs to be adjusted.

Adjustment instructions

Such operations should be carried out periodically, as this allows not only to improve thermal insulation, but also to extend the service life of the door. This is especially important for balconies equipped with aluminum sliding windows. The adjustment process involves adjusting the position of the web and consists of several separate steps:

  1. Horizontal adjustment... This approach allows you to change the position of the door in the horizontal plane relative to the floor. It is carried out with the help of special screws, which are located under the decorative strip from above, below and in the middle. The adjustment process involves screwing or unscrewing these fasteners using a hex wrench. Please note that you need to turn the screws opposite to the misalignment. So, for example, if the door clings to the box from below, then it is desirable to screw in the middle and upper fasteners.
  2. Vertical alignment involves changing the height of the sash. This can be done using the screws that are placed on the hinge itself. To access them, you must first remove the plastic cover. To change the offset of the frame, you just need to turn the fasteners with a hex or flathead screwdriver to one side. At the same time, it is important to control what changes have occurred. When performing such operations, it is additionally necessary to change the position of the striker plates, which are located at the ends of the door frame. They need to be combined in one of the sides where you performed the blade adjustment.
  3. Frontal clamp. They change it using special mechanisms, which may differ depending on the door model. In some designs, eccentrics are responsible for this, which simply rotate to change the pressure. Sometimes this is adjusted with a trunnion. Turn it using pliers. If these structures are absent, then the clamp can be changed using the frontal displacement of the striker. To do this, you must first unscrew the clamping screw and turn it in the desired direction.

How to adjust the handles with your own hands?

The handle is a relatively simple mechanism, but it also breaks down frequently. The main problems are tightness or loosening of the mechanism. It is easy to fix such faults by following several consecutive steps:

  • Initially, you need to get access to the pressure screws. To do this, the plastic cover on the handle is rotated to one side.
  • Using a Phillips screwdriver, the fasteners are tightened. At the same time, it is important to check the stroke of the handle so as not to overdo it and not to overtighten it.

Self-replacement insulation

The gasket provides a rubber or rubber gasket that keeps air out, minimizing crevices. If the door is used incorrectly, this leads to rapid wear of this element. Replacing it is quite easy, which requires several operations:

  1. First of all, you need to dismantle the seal with a screwdriver, which will allow you to get it out of the fixing groove.
  2. After that, the opening is thoroughly cleaned of dust and dirt. Ingestion of these components will reduce the life of the gasket.
  3. Before installing the seal, the groove is coated with special glue (it is advisable to pay special attention to the ends). Then the product is carefully inserted into the groove. When performing work, the seal should not be tensioned.

Preventing malfunctions

A door leaf is, first of all, a mechanism that consists of several parts. To extend its service life, you need to follow a few simple rules:

  • Equip the door leaf with a microlift, which will hold the weight of the structure in the closed position. Also use special restraints that do not allow the door to swing open completely.
  • Do not hang heavy bags or similar products from the doorknob. This minimizes the likelihood of web sagging.
  • To maintain the condition of the door lock and seal, they should be lubricated with special compounds. For example, silicone solutions are suitable for rubber.

The process of adjusting a plastic door is very simple, but it requires care and at least a little skill in working with a locksmith's tool.
